Deward Eugene Bird CULLODEN - Deward Eugene Bird, 83, of Culloden, Cabell County, died Nov. 27, 1998, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a long illness. He was retired from Union Carbide Corp., South Charleston plant, with 39 years' service. He was a member of Kingsway Christian Church, formerly the East Nitro Christian Church, and was a 48-year resident of Culloden. Surviving: daughters, Nellie Terry of Winfield, Norma Stewart of Lesage, Janet Racer of Greensburg, Ky., Kay Walker of Shady Springs; sister, Helen Harris of Scott Depot; seven grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. today at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with minister Dwight Shaffer and minister Jon Hudnall officiating.
