I am Susan BARLOW Holmes of Redfield Arkansas. I would love to find the parents of Elisabeth BYRD who married Norval R. BARLOW in Rankin Co Mississippi on Feb 27 1845. Norval is the nephew of my great great Grandfather, George Washington BARLOW....George was married to Flora Anne BYRD and it is said that Elisabeth and Flora were sisters....however....we have as yet to prove a parent for either of them.. Also, Nathaniel Green BARLOW, George Washington BARLOWS twin....was married to Mary BYRD...and she too may be a sister of Elisabeth and Flora.. The book..."Memoirs of Mississippi" states that Mary is the daughter of George and Susan BYRD of SC....but several BYRD researchers disagree with that...and I have seen some sheets claiming Mary to be the daughter of Eden BYRD and Anne LEE. In the 1850 Rankin Co census...Mary and Nathaniel were living in Rankin Co and an elderly George BYRD is living near them....and in the 1860 census..Nathaniel and Mary are living back Simpson Co..near the rest of the BARLOW boys..Living near them is a John BYRD. In my mind, I believe that this John and George were brothers..and that John may have been the parents of Flora and Elisabeth..while George is the father of Mary...but I have yet to find that proof..As we know..the census prior to 1850 serves little purpose in identifying children and spouses in a household.. Now that I have you all suffieciently confused...I'll give you time to comtemplate all of the John, George...Mary and Elisabeth's....I sure wish my folks had been a little more creative in their naming of children! <GGG> thanks for any response... Susan...
