Fellow Bird/Byrd researchers: In the process of looking for some important scrap of paper, I came across the above couple headlining a ten page very, small print outline descendant tree. The information was sent to me by Rupert Sexton of Georgia. FYI, Sexton is my mother's maiden name (research stuck in Wake Co NC, Miller Sexton marries Lucy Deming Ford 1817, is in Wake Co War of 1812 regiments). My mother's mother was Lucy Belle MARSH, daughter of Wm. Michael Marsh and Casselia BIRD/BYRD, d/o Henry BYRD and Lucinda CHOATE, son of John BYRD and Nancy Couts of Robertson/Sumner Co TN. There is absolutely no information on Elizabeth Bird in the Sexton outline, but I will transcribe the information for Elizabeth and George. FYI the descendants of this couple followed a rather unusual migration pattern. Massachusetts>Long Island>SC and GA after Civil War. I guess they were involved in the Reconstruction? 1. James Sexton b. 1604 Limerick, Ireland, occupation Shipbuilder, wife unknown. 2. George Sexton Sr., b. 1632, England or Ireland. Came to America 1650-1660. Occupation Shipbuilder. Married Katherine BIRD (not clear where they were married, but children were born in Massachusetts beginning 1656. George died October 31, 1680, Westfield Massachusetts. June 10, 1663 George purchased land lying at Warrenoko River at Westfield from Thomas Cowper. He was agent or trader because he lived in Hartford, Windsor, Westfield and Boston. He and Thomas Molde were appointed to appraise all buildings in Westfield. Being a strong believer in naming traditions, their children were: Charles Sexton m. Sarah unk; Daniel; James; Joseph; Benjamin m. Mary STRONG; and John. Hope this helps someone. Janet Hunter
