"Elijah Bird/Byrd in Lenoir County, North Carolina 1800-1830." >From your message to the Bird mailing list. Elijah Byrd could have been the son of Joshua Byrd who, along with other members of the Byrd's in Lenoir County, moved to Johnston County. I believe that Elijah Byrd was the brother of my Sutton Byrd. If this is the same one, during the 1810's this family moved to Johnston Co. Sutton began to buy property in the mid 1810's and continued long into that period. He died in 1865 in Johnston Co. I don't have my Byrd book with me but I think this is the same family. Elisha Byrd was apparently another son as well as at least Joshua Jr. Some of them stayed in Lenoir to the best of my recollection but I know for certain that Sutton and Elisha owned adjoining property in the Elevation Township portion of Johnston Co. I will look into this further and let you know what I have in my files. The other Byrd (Abner) I do not have anything on. What is your connection to this family? Sutton was my great great grandfather, who apparently was born in NC (possibly Lenoir) and moved to Johnston. He married, for probably the second or third time, in 1845 to Peggy Johnson. According to census records he would have been born about 1785 and his will indicates that he died in late 1856 or early 1857.
