In the name of God Amen I, Henry Byrd of Claredon County Sumter District and the State of South Carolina being in good health and of sound mind blessed be God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say, that I bequeath my soul to God who gave it in the first place. I desire that my body be decently buried with appropriate expense and that all my just debts be paid and as to the goods with which it has pleased God to bless me I bestow in the following manner. Item 1: I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter, Ann L. Reynolas, the wife of W. L. Reynolas, all my real and personal property of whatever kind I may be possessed at the time of my death for the term of her natural life and after her death to her children and the issue of such of her children as then may be dead such issue taking together the share that would have fallen to their parent if living. I give and bequeath to my daughter and her children and grandchildren for their seperate use and behoof to be worked and managed by my son in law, W.L. Reynolas as Trustee for my daughter, the said Ann L. Reynolas and her children and grandchildren during the life time of my son in law, W.L. Reynolas. But if it should so happen that my daughter should die leaving no child or children, then in that case I give and bequeath to the children of my friend, W. W. Coullet, my negro man, Jess - the balance of my real and personal property in case my daughter the said, Ann L. Reynolas should die leaving no children or grandchildren, I give and bequeath to my son in law, W. L. Reynolas and to his heirs absolutely and forever. Item 2: It is my wish and I do hereby so appoint that the legal estate in whatever property may by this fall to my daughter and her children and grandchildren after her may be and remain in W. L. Reynolas so long as he may live subject to his direction and control during his life. Item 3: I do hereby nominate and appoint my son in law, W. L. Reynolas executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all wills and codicils hertofore made by me. In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three.
