Does anyone know for sure if Elisha Bird, b 1753, son of James and Mary Burtis, married Ziba Osmun's widow or his daughter? The paper on Elisha Bird from the Detroit Genealogy Magazine states that Rachael was Ziba's widow. However, Osmun researchers I spoke with think that Elisha married Ziba and Rachael's daughter, also named Rachael. Ziba and Rachael also had a son named Ziba who married Joanna Dotty, and this is well-documented. They give Ziba Jr's birthdate as approx 1750, and if this is true, Elisha's wife Rachael born in 1751 would have to be his sister, not his mother. Am I making any sense? Ziba Osmun Sr. died in 1777 in Alexandria, NJ, but no one knows when he was born. I'd appreciate any feedback on this.
