Joey Mimbs Descendants of Wiley Bird, Sr. FIRST GENERATION 1. Wiley BIRD, Sr. was born about 1785 in NC. He died about 1844 in Bulloch County, GA. Wiley was buried on his farm which was located northwest of Metter, GA. He was a Farmer. 1805 - Wiley appears in the GA Land Lottery, Montgomery County, GA. 1807 - A deed appears in Bulloch County, GA Plat Book (1797-1890), page 381, to Wiley Bird, dated April 1807, for 200 acres on Mincey Mill Creek. During the years that followed, Wiley continued to acquire land, slaves, and other property. He was married to Edith NEWBERN (daughter of Thomas NEWBERN and Elizabeth SPARKMAN) on Feb 16 1808 in Bulloch County, GA. Their marriage license is located in a box on a shelf in the Bulloch County Courthouse. I have personally held and read the original license. :-) Edith NEWBERN was born about 1787 in Cheraws, SC. Edith is listed as 63 years old in the 1850 census. She died after 1850 in Bulloch County, GA. The last census in which Edith appears is 1850. Her son Wiley, Jr. and daughter Ann are living with her. She has not been found in the 1860 census. Edith is buried on her farm which was located northwest of Metter, GA. Wiley BIRD, Sr. and Edith NEWBERN had the following children: +2 i. William was a messenger to the Canoochee Conference from Upper Lots Creek Church in Bulloch County, GA. The church was formed in 1831. He was married to Tiercy (Nancy) DEAKLE on Jan 5 1844 in Emanuel Co., GA. Tiercy (Nancy) DEAKLE was born on Nov 28 1826. She died on Aug 11 1896. William (Billy) Y. BIRD was born in 1825 in Emanuel Co., GA. He was married to Amanda (Arminda) BIRD (daughter of William BIRD and Faitha PARKER) on Aug 25 1845 in Emanuel Co., GA. Amanda (Arminda) BIRD was born about 1830 in Emanuel Co., GA. William (Billy) Y. BIRD and Amanda (Arminda) BIRD had the following children: i. Wiley BIRD. ii. Berry BIRD. iii. Benjamin BIRD. iv. Mary J. BIRD. 9. Andrew BIRD was born on Apr 30 1826 in Emanuel County, GA. He died about 1875 in Bulloch County, GA. The part of Bulloch County Andrew died in was later cut off into Candler County. The exact date of his death is unknown. Andrew was knocked off his wagon by a tree limb and died while out riding one day. When he was discovered a few days later, his body was so decomposed that he was buried right there on the spot under a large oak tree (present day Candler County). There is no marker. Go south on 129 out of Metter to County Road 28. Turn left on County Road 28 and proceed 1.7 miles. There is a large oak tree on the right. Older family members attest to the location of Andrew's grave. The old road used to run by the tree. A sunken in place can be noticed next to the tree. Andrew was a Farmer. In each census record that Andrew and LouVenia are found, they are shown to be farmers. Andrew's father, Wiley Bird, died while Andrew was still a minor. Andrew's older brother, Jackson, served as his guardian until 1847 (Minutes - Court of the Ordinary - 1843 - 1858 - Bulloch County, GA - Book 4 - A). Andrew in listed in the following Bulloch County, GA census records: 1850, page 247; 1860, page 789; 1870, page 186. He died sometime after 1870. His widow, Lou Venia, is listed in the 1880 Bulloch County, GA census. Andrew is listed in the 1865 Census of Bulloch County, GA. This census was taken in September, 1865. He is # 216. This census was found among loose papers in the Office of the Probate Judge of Bulloch County, GA. Andrew is listed in the "Georgia's 1867 - 1868 Return of Qualified Voters and Registration Oath Books." It states in Book A, page 268, that Andrew is a resident of Bulloch County, GA. He had lived there for 40 years. At the time of the registration, August 14, 1867, He is living in Precinct #45. He was married to LouVenia KIRKLAND (daughter of Richard KIRKLAND, Jr. and Catherine SIMS) about 1847 in Bulloch County, GA?. While no marriage license has ever been found for Andrew and LouVenia, LouVenia's headstone reads, "LouVenia, wife of Andrew Bird." Older family members also attest to their marriage. The death certificate of their son, William B. Bird, lists his parents as "Andrew Bird and Louvenia Kirkland." The death certificate of their son, Jefferson F. Bird, also lists his parents as "Andrew Bird and Venie Kirkland." In 1850, Andrew and LouVenia were living next to her brother, Joshua Kirkland. LouVenia's parents, Richard and Catherine Kirkland were living a short distance away. Andrew Bird is also listed in the probate papers of Richard Kirkland. No marriage license has been located for Andrew and LouVenia. LouVenia KIRKLAND was born on Apr 3 1830 in Bulloch County, GA. She died in Feb 1911 in Bulloch County, GA. She was buried in Aline, GA. LouVenia is buried in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Aline, GA. Her headstone reads, "LouVenia, wife of Andrew Bird, died Feb - 1911, Age 82 years. How sweet to think of her in her new home." Andrew BIRD and LouVenia KIRKLAND had the following children: +63 i. Jackson BIRD. ii. Elizabeth BIRD was born in Jul 1850 in Bulloch Co, GA. She died before 1860 in Bulloch Co, GA. Cuyler KIRKLAND was born in 1823. He died about 1854 in Emanuel Co., GA. Louvenia "Viney" BIRD and Cuyler KIRKLAND had the following children: i. Joshua KIRKLAND. ii. Richard KIRKLAND. iii. Alfred KIRKLAND. She was married to Perry COLLINS on Jun 28 1855 in Emanuel Co., GA. Perry COLLINS was born about 1835. He died in Jun 1862 in VA. Perry died during the Civil War. Louvenia "Viney" BIRD and Perry COLLINS had the following children: i. Jackson COLLINS. ii. Hezekiah COLLINS. iii. Jincy COLLINS. 11. Wealthy Ann BIRD was born on Feb 29 1828 in Bulloch Co, GA. Wealthy Ann was born in 1828, a leap year. She died on Dec 3 1882. She was married to Berrien LANIER (son of Frederick LANIER and Elizabeth STUDSTILL) in 1846. Berrien LANIER was born in 1824. He died in Jun 1864 in Civil War. He was buried in Savannah, GA. Wealthy Ann BIRD and Berrien LANIER had the following children: +81 i. Elizabeth LANIER. +82 ii. Clement LANIER. iii. James F. Wiley BIRD, Jr. was born on Jun 20 1830 in Bulloch Co, GA. He died before Jun 1864. He was married to Lucy Ann EDENFIELD (daughter of Richard EDENFIELD and Edenfield HERRINGTON) on May 1, 1855 in Emanuel Co., GA. Lucy Ann EDENFIELD was born on Jul 29 1835 in Emanuel Co., GA. She died on May 26, 1915 in Bulloch Co, GA. The following was recorded in the Statesboro News on Thursday, September 16, 1915: Memoriam - Mrs. Lucy A. Bird died May 26 at her home three miles west of Statesboro, aged 80. She married Mr. Wiley Bird about her 20th year and he died after about seven years. She then married W. J. Bird. She is survived by seven children, two by her first husband, Mrs. J. B. Lanier of Brooklet and Mrs. B. E. Bird of Savannah. By her second husband are T. A., Walter and Chas. Bird of Savannah; W. S. and Horace Bird of Briston, Appling County; Mrs. John G. Williams of Register and Mrs. J. J. Groover of Emmett Grove. Burial at Lotts Creek Church. (Recorded in "Birth, Marriages and Deaths" from Bulloch County, GA Newspapers, Vol. 1, pages 150 - 151.) She was buried in Lower Lotts Creek Cemetery, Bulloch Co. KENNEDY and Mary HOLLAND) in 1848. Edmund B. KENNEDY, Sr. was born on Nov 12 1824. He died on Apr 17 1907. Elizabeth BIRD and Edmund B. KENNEDY, Sr. had the following children: i. Elbert KENNEDY. ii.
