Hello all, I've been researching my family tree for years and recently my husband asked me to do a bit of work on his. I'm looking for any information on the BURD family tree. Thus far I don't know very little other than his grandfather's name was William, the family homesteaded in Wyoming, and currently lives in the Casper area. Mostly I am looking for information on the origin and history of the BURD family name. Family history holds that it is Irish but so far I haven't been able to locate it on any of the larger Irish surname sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated. April Burd P.S. My work has mostly been on the HUGHETT/HEWIT and SHOWALTER lines. Other major lines in the family are MANGUS/MANGIS and HESS. For the most part the branches immigrated to Pennsylvania >>> Tennessee and Virginia >>> Midwest. I'd be happy to share any information I have.
