I've recently had a snail mail request for information about the descendants of Mounce Bird/Byrd. Unfortunately, this is not my direct line and my database is shallow on this particular branch. I have information for her on the "Early Bird" family in the Shenandoah Valley, the Ruddells, and the Pennybackers. If any of you have additional information on this line as given below, or know where it can be located online, please let me know and I'll pass the information on. Mounce Bird, Sr. m. Clara Ruddell Mounce Bird, Jr. m. Hannah Pennybacker William Byrd John Byrd Clara Light Byrd Clara Mary Bompart Fred Richardson Brewer, Sr. Thanks! Sherry Johnson sherrjo@tenet.edu
The Mounce in my Bird Line was Mounce Jones. He died in 1693 at Douglasville, PA, then known as Morlatton. He had four daughters and seven sons, one of which was named "Mounce." The family settled in along the "Schuylkill" River. The family were major players at St. Gabriel's Protestant Episcopal Churcy, the 'original Swedish Lutheran Church.' This informatiohn is from the book called "The Ironmasters Kin, the genealogy of William and Mark Bird, 1621-1985" by Vera N. Hardin. This $8 book is still available at the Broad River Genealogy Society in North Carolina. It mentions that Mounce's kin served as laste as 1959 at the Church. Just to make things complicated, the descendant's name is Herbert G. Jones.
