Dear Kathleen and Deborah, I went to the Library of Congress today and found some interesting items about the Birds. Of course nothing was documented, but I was delighted to see a connection with HULING 3 generations back in New Jersey and Berks Co. PA. After their fortunes ran out (post Rev War, bad debts) the sons of William Bird, Berks Co. PA, moved south and west. Mark Bird went to NC and also bought land in SC. The books didn't say so, but I'm sure some of the children went south west into Frederick & Shenandoah Co. VA. They operated iron furnaces in PA, and that was big business in Shenandoah. The 3 books I looked at most closely follow different lines of descendant (than the one I want) but I'm sure they were the correct families. I'm going to Winchester later this week to see what else can be discovered. Please don't get anxious. It will take several months to sort out everyone.
