Hi List, Ive made contact finally after years or researching with GA family who had info on my gg grandfather. We had always been told his name was Nathaniel Hawthorne Bird from Troup Co., GA. His tombstone had date of birth as 3-1-1841. But census records all show he was born closer to 1845. He claimed he left Mountville, Troup Co, GA about 1872 with wife Lucy Pollard Bird and three sons Thomas Oswald, William Oscar and Charles M., leaving his large family of 8 brothers and 6 sisters. We had never found any proof of Hawthorne as middle name...all records were either Nat Bird or N.H. Bird. Quite happily I received a pkg three wks ago with Bird info from a gentleman in Macon, GA who had enclosed a letter from a lady researcher of twenty five years on Bird line. Her great grandfather was a brother to my Nathaniel. I found her name and phone number on search and gave her a call. What a surprise for us both as she has so much info on all the family. Biggest surprise for me was Nathaniel's middle name was Howell. You see his son William Oscar named his second son Howell Lee Bird, my grandfather!! She even had notes on Uncle Nat and his Pollard wife! I had found Nathaniel H. Bird son of James Madison Bird and Elitha "Tilithey" Roseline Oliver on 1850 Meriwether Co., GA census last year. They lived just over the Troup Co line. Four houses away lived Joseph Pollard and family with little Lucy who Nathaniel married. James Madison Bird was a son of Hiram Bird and Temperance Wheeless (Wheliss, Whealiss, Wheeliss) daughter of Hardy Wheeliss. Lady even sent me photos of Nathaniels brothers who look just like my great grandfather and grandfather. She even had a picture of Elitha Oliver's grandfather James Oliver. WOW. What a gold mine. I know have listing of siblings of Bird lines and some of Oliver line....so if anyone connects with this line please let me know, will gladly share... Good luck, Sherry
