The following is what I have on SOME Abraham Birds. Please let me know if there are any corrections. The sources for the family group sheet I have on Abraham Bird and Rachel Ziegler/Siegler were taken from Shenandoah Co., VA Will Book P, Page 315, Shenandoah Co., VA Marriage Book 1772-1850, Fayette Co., KY Will Book E, Pabe 149, and Sumner Co., TN Deed Book, page 539: Abraham Bird's will was dated 11 Aug 1808 and proved 11 Jan 1830. This FGS states that this Abraham Bird was the son of Andrew Bird who was the son of Abraham Bird of Calvert Co., MD. While I'm on these Shenandoah Co., VA Birds, I will give additional info. Andrew Bird, III, b. 1754, d. 1838, m. Cynthia Ann Moore 3 Dec 1829 in Shan. Co., VA. He was the son of Andrew Bird, II (or Jr.) and Mary Hamilton. Cynthia was the daughter of Charles L. Moore. Rockingham Co., VA Deed Book shows Abraham Bird and wife, Catherine Deed of sale on 24 Nov. 1778 to John Ruddle. Also stapled to this batch of FGS's was one on John Bird who died 1754-1756 in Bath Co., VA m. a Dean, children were John Byrd, Jr. who m. a Hamilton, and Sarah Byrd b. 1743. Annals of Bath Co., VA. "John Byrd, a brother-in-law to John and William Dean, was killed by Indians two years after his purchase on Jackson's River in 1754. Of the wife and six children who were carried away, John, Jr., is the only one we know to have returned. The family were trying to escape from Fort Dinwiddie. The son became so Indianized that it was quite a while before he could reconcile himself to the ways of his own people. He was a favorite with the red men, and made at least one attempt to go back to them. His wife was a Hamilton. There were seven children, but Andrew H., whose wife was Elizabeth Capito, was the only son to stay in Bath. He was twice its sherrif. A sister two years older than John, Jr. remained with the Indians. Another sister was Sarah, born in 1743. She does not seem to have been carried away, and chose John Dean as guardian. Sorry, didn't mean to be so long-winded, but thought some of this might help someone. I believe I copied most of this info from the library in Knoxville, TN. Glenda

Bill: I checked out the webpage you referred to (Bath Co, VA) that contains your research notes, and I have a question: your notes mention a few times that the Andrew Bird that married Magdelena Jones was the son of Abraham Bird of MD, while the chart in your email message has him as the son of Andrew Bird of Raritan, NJ. Which do you feel is correct, or is this one of those mysteries that will probably never be solved? Several references give a death date of 1820 for one Abraham Bird, in Fayette Co. KY. Can anyone supply the source (documentation) for this information? Hi Linda, My BIRDS came from Spalding, Lincolnshire in the 1840's-1850's. I don't know of any who settled in Canada. Mine came to Oakland County, MI. One ancestor, however, did marry someone from Ontario. Maybe there is a connection. I hope to hear from you. Doug birddoug@svol.org

Hi everyone; The Bird's I am searching for are from England. I myself are in Ontario, Canada. I have been able to trace back to Edwin Bird on the 1881 census in Nottingham, he was 20 at the time. He was married to Matilda Wayte, from Stapenhill and they had 8 children that I know of. I have not been able to find out anything else. One of his 8 children was my GGF John Bird, b 1881 after the census. The IGI has no record of this line of Birds but I did find some of Matilda's family, I believe just her brothers and sisters. It mentions her parents John and Sarah Wayte but that's about it. I'm hoping to find some Birds or Waytes in England that are searching the same family. Thanks, Linda (Bird)

So True Regarding job layoffs in the U.S.: Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 a.m. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB. At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day, Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in.....AMERICA..... KEEP THIS CIRCULATING PLEASE

Hi List, I am looking for some information on Robert Bird born on 11/25/1869 who married Nancy Viola Nolan (b. 4-8-1870) in Lee, Alabama. They had atleast one son named Richard who was born in Alabama in 1895. Richard married Grace Marie Haris in 1899. I am hoping to find the names of the other children of Robert and Nancy, along with any other lineage information. Thanks, Paula
Dear Kathleen and Deborah, I went to the Library of Congress today and found some interesting items about the Birds. Of course nothing was documented, but I was delighted to see a connection with HULING 3 generations back in New Jersey and Berks Co. PA. After their fortunes ran out (post Rev War, bad debts) the sons of William Bird, Berks Co. PA, moved south and west. Mark Bird went to NC and also bought land in SC. The books didn't say so, but I'm sure some of the children went south west into Frederick & Shenandoah Co. VA. They operated iron furnaces in PA, and that was big business in Shenandoah. The 3 books I looked at most closely follow different lines of descendant (than the one I want) but I'm sure they were the correct families. I'm going to Winchester later this week to see what else can be discovered. Please don't get anxious. It will take several months to sort out everyone. Hi, I guess perhaps I started a chain reaction to the Byrd-Blakemore Family research. While I do not believe Mary Byrd was the daughter of Francis Byrd and Hannah Blakemore. which I believe that others have also come to believe. I would like to know what proof we have to believe that Francis Byrd the father of Mary Byrd had another child names Francis Byrd who would have been Francis Jr. Since a Francis Byrd died in 1796 in Davidson County, TN, I am quite sure this is not the husband of Hannah Blakemore. I ordered yesterday the Microfilm from the Family History Library of the Deed Index for Hawkins County. If I find anything in this film that will help us sort out the Bryd Family I will let you know. I have my Blakemore Byrd Ancestors listed on my web page in a easy to use Pedigree Chart display. So if you are interested to see the results of my years of research take a look. I do show the Skipwith line which does go back to 900AD, but I have not as yet taken the time to load all of these generations yet. Between research and data entry I am spread very thin. I have the documents and proof in my home to load all of this information when I get around to it. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~redfield/01_bradshaw_index.html Also I want to tell those of you that have an E-Mail address for me as charanne@3-cities, that this is still a good address but I will be moving to a new E-Mail address since I got a DSL line on May 1, 200, char.anne@verizon.net. So I will still get your message on the 3-cities for some time in the future but my newest address is on verizon.net. I have had the 3-cities address for the past 6 years so I have a lot of people to advise of the change plus a lot of web pages to change. Later,
I am a descendant of Joseph Bounds and Mary Bird. She was the daughter of Francis Bird who apparently migrated from NC to TN with Jesse Bounds, Joseph's father. While I have a lot of Bounds info, I know very little about the Birds. Would be interested in learning more about Francis Bird.
