    1. Cemetery Recorded, Williamsburg, VA
    2. Millard New
    3. Thought I'd share this information with anyone interested. In the summer of 1996 I stumbled on a cemetery just outside of Williamsburg, VA. It was located about 1/2 mile north of an East-West county road named "NEWS ROAD." This road was just to the west and a little north of Williamsburg. The road shows on the local maps. I talked with a man at one of the homes along this road, and he informed me about this "NEW's CEMETERY." I visited this remote site and jotted down the names I could find there. Most were News but there were a few other names listed. Hope this helps one of you in your research. Note: Even though I believe my ancestors originated from this area in 1637, I could make no connection in my own search to the names listed here. ------------------------------------------------------------------ The grave yard contained at least 26 headstone markers and about 3 foot markers not associated with headstones. I probably missed these facts > in previous communiques. > > ------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ RootsWeb has *no* "main sponsoring org". No university, no government agency, no gensoc, no business, nobody but *you*. We are *entirely* supported by voluntary contributions. Our hardware and bandwidth budget for the last year was in the neighborhood of $60,000, of which about two-thirds were individual contributions and the rest came out of Karen and Brian's pockets. Apple Computer also donated a server to RootsWeb, which augments the other 4 main servers we've bought. Karen and I have also donated our time as system administrators, as did the other RootsWeb folks. Next year's costs will be well over $100,000 and possibly as high as $200,000, depending on whether we have the resources to start buying datasets and uploading them for everyone to freely use. RootsWeb wouldn't have happened without the support of the Internet genealogical community, and we need continued support if we're going to keep expanding the services that are available to the community. Thanks to everyone who is helping us make this happen! -B [ BTW, please feel free to redistribute this to your lists. It worries me that folks don't realize that their contributions are are the *only* thing that keeps RootsWeb alive. ] -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O. 3. This message is directed to those of you who are related to the following BYRD and DEATON family in NC. If you are not related, please delete and I apologize. Dr. Lloyd Bailey of NC printed a 50 copies of the family history of the following Byrd family several years ago. It was almost 1000 (un-indexed) pages and cost $68.00. I get nothing out of this--I just want to have it reprinted. I doubt if Mr. Bailey will ever recover all of his research cost for the book. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested. 2. Pat Take a deep breath -- it's all going to be okay!!! :) Yes, I was expecting a response from you, but I think you may have already replied. Anyway, just wanted to let you know I'm forwarding 3 emails to you I just received. One is from [email protected], and the other is from [email protected] re Jonas & William. From what I can understand, jbhice (judith) may only live about 30 minutes from my house! If that's the case, I hope to meet with her within the next few days and see if I can't make some sense of this. Enjoy this week, just download your email (to keep aol from returning mail if your mailbox gets full) & let it sit until next week. It will all be there for you and you'll be glad for something to absorb yourself in (it can be very quiet those first few days after the wedding...). I'll let you know as soon as I hear from Judith. It would be great if we could all 3 meet and compare notes????? Have a good week Nancy

    2. Hello everyone, Normally I would not send a message like this, but I am just so excited over getting my first award for my web site. It is a business site, but I have had so much trouble getting every thing fixed, and have just today managed to get the award up, I got it on the 10th of the month. I am very new at making a web site. I had a lot of help from Bill Bowe, and for the BIRD members you might want to visit his site at http://www.interaccess.net/~wcb, his genealogy site has connections to BIRDS. My site is at http://members.aol.com/ssharmans/index.html You can also find out about getting a free guest book, if you do not already have one. So if you get a chance drop by my web site and take a look, and please sign my guest book. Thank you, Sharon Straight [email protected] List Owner DRUMM.
