    2. Launa, in posting to BIRD-L you made Tues. Sept.23, you write: I have 85% of all the decendants of John Bird and Nancy Couts. I have run into a blank wall tracing my BIRDS who came from Missouri, to Kansas and then to Oklahoma. Would you please check your descendant charts to see if you have any descendants of John Bird who lived in Missouri in the mid-1800's. I would so much appreciate this help. I will check my information for your John Bird. Thanks, Cact [email protected]

    1. Re: Bird
    2. Dear Launa, This is a long shot. I have a John Byrd/Bird George bc1810 in Sumner Co, TN. His father was Joseph George bc 1769 (who had siblings Isaac, Jesse, David, Rebecca). Father of Joseph may be William, Isaac, or Presley George. We think John's middle name "Byrd or Bird" might be a surname clue to our George line. Apparently this George line came from Chatham Co, NC. Land records show these George names, also Bird/Byrd, also William Cage (perhaps the Cage's Bend person of Sumner Co, TN). Land records of Chatham Co, NC suggest links to VA. So, my question - does your John or Thomas Bird line have ANY connection to a George line? If so, I'd love to hear from you, and several others would swarm around you in appreciation, too. Thanks, Pat

    3. Looks like these Byrds/Birds may have passed through my general neighborhood. I have a bare minimum of information on my line. I've been digging unsuccessfully for some scrap of information that might lead me to the ancestry of a Susan(nah) Byrd who married Joseph Honeycutt of Buncombe Co., N.C. He was born ca. 1789, son of Moses Honeycutt. Susan's parents are reputed to have been a Sam and Polly (Mary) Byrd, but even this is not documented. I'd be interested in any information of Virginia Byrds who may have made their way into the Burke/Buncombe/Yancey Co. area of North Carolina in early days. Thanks for your attention, Tom >I'm looking for information on the family and ancestors of Jacob Bird/Byrd b. >1779 in Tennesse. 2. Hello everyone, Since I belong to so many lists, and run 5, I do not read all the mail. I look strictly at the subject line, and if it is of interest I will read it. I just received a message from a subscriber today that she is unsubscribing because she has been getting too much junk mail. I found out a couple of days ago, that some spammers have gotten in and managed to send junk mail to some of the lists. I did not know any had hit any of my lists. If any one has gotten any junk mail, either forward it to me, or let me know who it was sent to. Normally spammers will not subscribe to mailing lists, they don't want to take the time. But with my lists closed no one can send a message unless they are subscribed, if they try, I get the message and decide what to do with it. I would greatly appreciate everyones help if junk mail is getting through. Then I can unsubscribe them and put their e-mail address on the reject list, and they can not subscribe again. At least from that address. Seems the spammers are doing new things every day. Thank you, Sharon Workman Straight [email protected] List Owner DRUMM. 3. While I don't have any dates, I do have some names in this line. Jacob and Amelia had 12 children [this is from family records], and, like I said, I don't have dates for any of them. Peg Bird m John Myers, Jr Rhoda Bird m Dan Carter Webb (my gg-grandparents) Mary m Hal Lawson, Jr (son of Hal Lawson, Sr and Mary Dunn) Jane m Limp Webb [assuming Limp is a nickname] Poll Bird Warren Bird m Mary Alice Bird Dunn [I think -- notes are not clear here] Rachel Bird Jake Bird Bill (Willie) Bird Dan Bird Henry Bird Boot (William Blufford) b 1817 m Susan Campbell -- the only date that I have for them I wish that I had more information in the way of history, but I am at a complete loss here. The line that I am most interested in, of course, is Rhoda Bird Webb and Dan Carter Webb, but I'm at a dead end on this one. Hal Lawson, Jr and Mary Bird had two children that *I* know about: Headrick Lawson and Mary-Betty (Polly) Lawson. Headrick Lawson m Mary Dunn [dau of Levi Dunn and Mary Hurst] I don't have any children listed for them. Mary-Betty (Polly) Lawson m Elijah Oliver and had 8 children. I hope some of this information helps. I wish I had more and would appreciate any more information. I am a direct descendant of Jacob and Amelia DUNN BURD. I descend from their child Daniel BURD who married Margaret LAWSON. I have also seen it spelled BYRD. I would love to exchange information with you and anyone else who may be from this line. I have got a lot of info. on my line after they moved to Dallas Co., MO. Did your line move to MO? Look forward to hearing from you, April in OK

    2. I have a John Byrd/Bird George b c 1812 probably in Sumner Co, TN. Several of us "cousins" (various of JBG's siblings) are hunting his parents, who may be Joseph and Susannah George or Isaac George or Pressley and Mary George. Census says parents were born in NC, although some think VA. My JBG sometimes is listed as "John," but more often "Byrd" or "Bird" - I've seen it both ways. Surely this "middle" name (unusual for the time) came from a surname. I'd love to hear from anyone BIRD or BYRD line who has a GEORGE connection. Pat

    3. VINCENT, Bird J.--I am looking for information on Bird J. Vincent, a US Representative from Saginaw. He lived from March 6, 1880 until July 18, 1931. He died of a kidney ailment two days after sailing out of Honolulu, Hawaii on the US Army Transport, Henderson. According to an article on his death, his wife was with him at his death. His daughter, parents, and his three sisters were at home. Another sister, Edith, had left for San Francisco. Another article covering him, told of him as the assistant procecuting attorney in Saginaw. It told of Vincent, his wife, and daughter Helen attending a Bird family reunion in Holly. It finally mentioned his mother, a Miss Elizabeth Bird. If anyone knows of Bird J. Vincent, any biographical information I may access, or any of his descendants, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I believe he may "fit into" my family tree. I thank you.
