BIRD/BYRD, NATHAN b: abt 1780 NC. He resided Humpreys Co., TN 1820, then Perry Co., TN 1830. He was in Johnson Co., AR by 1840. Nathan may have been married to ANNA TERRY who apparently died before the move to AR. He was then married to MILLIE __________. Between the two wives, he had the following sons: William, James, Samuel, & Willis D. & possibly Nathan & Thomas. Also, daughter, Anna Byrd m: NATHANIEL ELI DICKERSON. Nathan died 1852 Johnson Co., AR, leaving Will Book A, page 51. For about 12 years, he lived in Mulberry on the Mulberry River. Looking for his ancestry and hoping someone can help me. Would welcome descendant information, but goal is to move him back. Gerre Byrd

I have the date of birth and name for a person born in the state of Missouri. Mary Elizabeth Bird, born 12-25-1865 in Missouri. I don't know the county. I don't know the names of her parents. Is there an index of Missouri births where I could look for her. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks, Cact [email protected]
I am researching all of the Byrd lines in Walton County, Georgia. Please contact me if you have any information on the surname in that area. Donna Thompson
My husband's family came from Aberdeen, Scotland. His line starts with William Bird (son of George) b. 28 May 1796 (have 3 different dates of 28, 29 & 30 on records) m. Mary Christie 1829 and d. 20 Mar 1879 at Fairmont, Martin Co, MN. They had 7 children: William II b. 29 Jun 1830 in Scotland, Alexander (died in infancy), George Mitchal 03 Feb 1836 in NY, James Walker b. 29 Aug 1840 in NY, Alexander b. 21 Jul 1842 in NY, John Park 10 Aug 1845 in MA,and Edward Wallace b. 24 Jan 1849 in PA. Most of the boys came to MN, however, Alexander returned to NY, where most of his ancestors are now. I have info on most of this line. Also I have most of William II's line to present time. If any of these names match yours, I will be glad to share info. [email protected]
My GGGrandfather, William Byrd (b. about 1852 in Tennessee) married a Margaret Tackett (b. about 1857 in Kentucky) in about 1873. William and Margaret had 5 children as outlined in the following 1880 census for Arkansas: "Byrd, William Vol-13, E.D.-216, Sheet-40, Line-30 W(hite) M(ale) Tennessee (born) Washington (County) Prairie (township) Byrd, Margaret W 23 Ky , James S 6 Ky , Sarah J. D 5 Ky (my GGrandmother) , John S 2 Ky Dora Belle D 1 Ky" It is apparent fron Dora's birth date that the family just moved to Washington County, Arkansas from Kentucky. There was another child born of this couple on 10/02/1884 in Arkansas. Her name was R. Mintie Byrd. Mintie died in 6/11/1945 in Muskogee, OK. Her obit listed the following: Sister: Dora Cooper, living in Muskogee Brother: John Byrd, living in Mesa, Ariz Brother: Jim Byrd, living in Dallas Texas. I have been unable to trace this family back prior to this 1880 census. Thought I'd try to see if anyone in the Bird/Bryd group or the Texahoma groups could help. Thanks, Millard New
Hi Dale, I have been monitoring this list for some time but have not joined in. Finally someone has come up with a name combination I cannot ignore. I own the Family Bible of William Johnson and Margaret Ish of Loudoun Co., VA. (my ggg-grandparents). According to this Bible, their daughter Jane Ann Johnson married Aaron Bird 8 Jan 1823. It does not give a birth date for Aaron, but Jane Ann was born 25 Jul 1807. Aaron died 30 Oct 1832. Jane died 2 Sep 1845. The Bible lists five children, Susan, John William, Avarillah, Charles E. and Mary Bird. I know Susan married Alexander Breckenridge and is buried in Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA. I also know from the Bible that Avarillah was born 14 Aug 1828 and died 30 Jan 1831 and Mary was born 3 Jul 1833 and died 19 Sep 1833. The Bible gives John William's birth as 19 Dec 1824 and Charles E. as 7 Feb 1830. I have not found any other information on this family. As this is the family of my ggg-aunt and uncle, I would very much like more information on Aaron's ancestry and on James William and Charles E. The name is spelled Bird in the Bible, but of course this is not a controlling factor. Hi everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that I've had sucess in find more information on my BURD family. A few weeks ago I contacted someone from this list about his BURD family. Little did I know that he would have information in his files on my BURD line. He did and snail mailed me the information boy was I tickled when I read down the lineage and saw my Otis BURD on this lineage. Now instead of having my line back to 1839 in NY, I am back to 1748 in Essex Co., NY. I've been working on verifing the information and have sent a letter to the author of the lineage. If anyone has the spelling BURD please feel free to write me and I'll check the info I have and see if we can make a connection. One more thing as we've researching our lines we tend to make copies of everyone we find with this surname, later to find they don't connect with our line. It's time to pull those records out and blow off the dust and post them to the list. Who knows you might be able to find a home for this person with someone on this list. Good Luck everyone in your searches, Lisa R. SMITH CLEVERSEY [email protected]
Here is my Byrd line. Does anyone match? James L. Byrd (b. 1/5/1801) moved to Crawford County Indiana from Barnes County Kentucky. His father was Jonathan B. Byrd. His son was Aaron Byrd (b. 11/06/1826). James Byrd was married to Rachel Randall from Charleston, S.C. Their children were Aaron, Thomas, Abraham, Jonathan and a girl whose married name became Mrs. Jason Gill. After James Byrd was married to Rachel Randall (in Crawford County Indiana) they moved to Putnam County Indiana. Then in the summer of 1852 moved on to Cass County Iowa and pioneered the area. James L. Byrd had a grandfather who was in the Revolutionary War and served from start to finish, and is beleived to have been at the surrender of Cornwallis to General Washington. My Byrds went from Virginia to Georgia to Tennessee to Kentucky to Indiana to Iowa to Nebraska. I live in Salt Lake City and am trying to make some progress on missing pieces on this family. If you know of anything, please let me know. best wishes, Dale Byrd [email protected]

Since it's recommended we re-post a query because new people are constantly joining us, I'm asking the Bird/Byrd group for any help available. My John Bird/Byrd George was bc1812 in probably Sumner Co, TN. He had siblings Walter Hardin, Frances, and Jesse J. We believe their father to be Joseph George, bc1769 in NC (probably Chatham Co), who married Susanna (?Hardin). As Walter Hardin perhaps received his name from his mother Susanna, we think it it likely that John Bird/Byrd received his name also from a family surname. Can anyone link a Bird/Byrd to a George surname in NC - Chatham, Orange Co? Any help appreciated. Pat
