Hi, Does anyone have info on Andy Bird, 1809-1906, found in Sevier Co. TN census in 1850. Died in Clinton Co. KY. Had a son James, born in Sevier Co. 1844. Died in Pickett Co. TN in 1907. James was a Union soldier, 13th KY Cav. He Married Minerva Robbins. Trying to find out where Andy came from? Thanks
I am interested in finding information regarding Alford H. BYRD (b. 1844, d. 1913) who was married to Josephine (UNKNOWN) in about 1870. They resided in Stewart County, Tennessee from at least 1876-1880 and probably much earlier. They had a son, Joseph E. Byrd (b. 1876) and several other children before moving to Lyon County, Kentucky. Any information at all would be a great help. Scott Byrd
I recently posted a message that included many surnames that I have in my database. However mostly/probably due to the fact that I neglected to inform people that the bulk of the information is available on my webpage (listed below in my signature), and, that my feelers were out so that interested people could _visit_ my webpage to verify possible connections, I ended up getting over 100 emails, mostly with comments like this... * "Please send me everything that you have on the "XXX" family." * "I'm a descendent of the "XXX" family, can you send me more information to see if we connect?" * "Do you know which part of Scotland the "XXX" family comes from?" * "I need more info, what are some of the given names with the "XXX" family? To begin with I want everyone to know that I am only upset with myself for not being clearer in my purpose for posting those surnames and have no quarrel with any of the people who sent me mail like this...it was my error that caused it all anyway. However with so many emails coming in over the next few days I finally threw my hands in the air and deleted all but the very few that appeared to come from addresses indicating no WWW (browser) connection or a probable genealogy connection. I will be gone this weekend and will be answering the few emails that appeared like possible connections when I get back...during next week. To the other people who wrote me (some genuine concerns) I need to ask to visit my webpage(s) to see if there might be any connection; the URL is in my signature at the end of this post. I apologise for any inconvenience... In my data base I find a John Baugh, 1833 - 1909, who took as a second wife "Martha Byrd (Ballard)". I cannot connect this person to the Birds or Ballards in our base, thought perhaps someone else might want to know of her. The location would be Lawrence Co., IN. Good luck. Bob King
I'm going to throw my names out again just in case.... Am researching my William Cam Byrd line. Cam was born June 20, 1865 in either Lee Co, VA or Hancock Co., TN. He died july 10, 1918 in Middlesboro, KY. It is understood that he owned a store in Middlesboro as well as several brothers. Have yet to find business license or anything else on these businesses. I do know that he was shot in the back at the election polls and carried the bullet til the day he died. Cam married 1. Mary Hogan/Harris and had one child Cam Hogan. 2. Margaret Sallie Edens and had one child Charles Byrd 3. Sarah Sallie Bowman and had 10 kids: John Wesley, Mary Eliz, Mandy Cordelia, Rhoda P., Sprian Hall, Mttie Lee, Doyle, Jennie Campbell, Cloye and Candace. Would love to find the parents of Cam. He had brothers, Haynes, John, Sol and a sister, Linda or Lynda. I have a good bit of info on Sol, but nothing on Haynes, John or Linda. Sound familiar to anyone? me ---------- > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: BIRD-D Digest V98 #12 > Date: Thursday, January 22, 1998 5:10 AM >
Someone very thoughtfully pointed out that I had listed Myrtle Beach, Horry, NC on the following message. This should be SC! Also, on another family record lists Frederick BYRD'S birth place as Georgetown, SC. (Myrtle Beach is on primary documentation.) In addition some have asked about the Deep South Roots list. Instructions to subscribe follows this message. Hi! I am searching for information regarding Leila G. ELLIS, born 20 Aug 1892, Bulloch County, Georgia, died 21 Dec 1951. She married Frederick Thomas BYRD in Daytona Beach, FL abt 1916. Frederick Thomas BYRD was born 1 Jul 1883 Myrtle Beach, Horry, NC and died 21 Dec 1951 in Daytona Beach, Volusia, FL. Neither of their death certificates list parents. Any information would be appreciated. ** SUBSCRIBE ** To subscribe to the list, send a message to [email protected] and put SUB DEEP-SOUTH-ROOTS-L Your Name as in SUB DEEP-SOUTH-ROOTS-L Larry Stephens in the body of the message (not the subject line). You can put anything you want in the subject; it's ignored. BE CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR SPELLING. A LOT OF ERRORS ARE CAUSED BY SPELLING THE COMMAND WRONG.

My great grandfather Joseph E. Byrd (b. March 1876) married Mary B. (UNKNOWN) (b. August 1879) sometime around 1896 in Lyon County, Kentucky. If anyone can provide me with further information regarding their marriage (i.e. specific date, brides maiden name) it would be a great help in my research. Thanks. Scott Byrd
Hello! I am a new "subscriber" to your mail list. A message came through today, mentioning "BIRD-D Digest V98 #10". What is this? I am a descendant of Joseph T. Bird, b. 8 Aug 1759 in Tyringham, MA; son of Joseph Bird and Huldah Sprague. Are there any "cousins" out there that can help me fill in blanks on these parents? Mary Kay McDowell, Oxford, MS
Hi, guy. Beats the hell out of me how you can accomplish as much as you do--in such a comprehensive way. Many thanks for your continued efforts in behalf of all of us. Hello every one, Thought in case some of you don't know, there is a great genealogy newsletter, and it is free. Especially great for those starting research for their families. This is the Genealogy: Missing Links. It is a weekly newsletter E- mailed to you. It is put out by Julia M. Case and Myra Vanderpool Gormley. Just go to this site http://goodstuff.prodigy.com/Mailing_Lists/genealogynews.html/ You can subscribe there. Or you can go to Myra's site at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4066 and you can subscribe there. This is a great site. Myra writes a weekly syndicated genealogy column, and you can read it on Ancestry, where you can click on to from Myra's site. Read about the 3 brothers myth at her site too. Interesting. When I first went to her site discovered that we are "cousins" connected by two lines. Hope this helps someone. Tom: This is not my line. Mine is that of Richard BIRD; however, in my HONEYCUTT et al database, consisting of 17,000 plus entries, I find an UNDOCUMENTED reference that shows the father of Susan[nah] BYRD as being Christopher BYRD [?]. The source of my info was the records of Irene Wheeler Merrill whose email address is above. Hope this lead is of some value to you. Best regards, Bill PS: How about sharing your HONEYCUTT line with me for incorporation into the HONEYCUTT et al database? Bill

I'm still seeking some clue to the ancestry of the Susan Byrd, b. ca. 1790-95, who married Joseph Honeycutt of the Buncombe/Yancey County area. (My descent continues via Stephen Morgan Honeycutt, b. 1826, Yancey County.) I have encountered one family legend that says Susan(nah)'s parents were Sam and Polly (probably nickname for Mary) Byrd. Any help would be appreciated. Tom
