I am researching my ggg grandfather JOHN BIRD and PHOEBE (OTLEY?) One child is known SAMUEL HENRY BIRD b Dec 13,1840 d Aug 23, 1908. SAMUEL married LUCY FRANCIS GOODE , b Aug 28, 1848 d July 17, 1907, in Franklin Co. Va after 1877. LUCY married first, ADDISON HENRY THORNTON on Nov. 17, 1865, they had 5 children. After ADDISON THORNTON died, SAM and LUCY married and moved to Lincoln Co. WVa around 1877 and they had 2 children there , Noah W. and EFFIE H. SAMUEL and LUCY are buried in Lincoln Co. WVa. SAMUEL served in Civil War, it is presumed for the South. Any information would be appreciated Thanks Jerry Grass.

Fellow birds, I have just received the info that my Joseph GEORGE married Susannah BIRD/BYRD on 25 Aug 1795 in Sumner Co, TN. This was sent to me by someone who (a) received it from someone else who had long researched this family but is now deceased (b) could not find the actual info in Sumner Co records. Anyone out there with a Susanna/h or Mary/Polly Bird/Byrd - and she probably came from North Carolina - who might fit? Also we have a Mary/Polly who is connected to a Thomas George, possibly with this same marriage date and also in Sumner Co - and thus confused with one another. A group of George cousins have been "working" on the assumption that Susanna, wife of Joseph George, was surnamed HARDEN/HARDIN. However, one of their sons was named John Bird/Byrd George - my line. I understand he married Maria Horsmanden. I've been told they had several children...I'm very interested in their youngest daughter Mary.
