    1. [BIRD-L] Birds of Warren Twp, Somerset Co, NJ
    2. Judy Pisano
    3. There were some Birds living in Warren Twp, Somerset Co, NJ in the 1800's. Isaac Bird, 1774 - 1832, m Elizabeth ? 1773 - 1865. Children were Elias (married Mary Trimmer); Phebe (married Jacob Trimmer); Mary; Jane (married ? Giddes); Fanny (married JohnSmith); Solomon (died before Isaac) and Clarkson (married Mary Coddington). At the same time, there was a Charity Coon Bird, widow of John Bird; John was already dead by 1830, but I don't have exact dates for him. They could be the parents of Isaac G. (married Phebe ?); Charity ( married Isaiah Coddington) John (married Jane Young) and Hannah (married Peter Perrine). There was also a John G. Bird, b 1781, wife Lydia. Does anyone have any clue to how these people might be connected? Also, there are two Clarkson Birds in this group. There is also a Clarkson Bird b 1810 living in Sussex Co. Is he related to this group? I have some descendant data for these people, if anyone is interested. 2. Susan BARLOW Holmes
    3. I do own the book, compiled by Robert Earl Byrd...."A Byrd Family History" and am willing to do lookups if anyone is interested. Also, I am looking for documentation of parentage of Mary Byrd, born May 2, 1815...died Oct 11, 1909 in Copiah Co Ms... who married Nathaniel Green Barlow, shown in Memoirs of Ms to have been the daughter of George and Byrd of SC....but shown on a few descendency charts I have seen as the daughter of Eden Byrd and Ann Lee.... Also....would desperately love to know who are the parents of Flora Anne Byrd, born Feb 21, 1818....married to George Washington Barlow, probably in Simpson Co MS around 1830.....and of Elisabeth Byrd...born Dec 22 1821..married Narvle R. Barlow in Rankin Co Ms on Feb 27, 1845. One newspaper article I have read indicates the three are sisters, and the daughter of a John Byrd....but I don't believe that information to be correct. My theory is that John and George were brothers and that perhaps Flora Anne were sisters, daughter of John....and that Mary was a cousin...daughter of George...but I have no proof of any of that. The persons that showed Mary to be the daughter of Eden Byrd....have not shown documentation to support the information...although...if it were proven, at least I'd have a connection to the many many Byrds found in that area of MS.. 1. [BIRD-L] Birds In Prince George Co., MD
    2. Glenda Todd
    3. The Register of Wills of Prince George's County, MD has estate files for Benjamin Bird (d. 1806, Will TT#1:194), John Bird (Will TT#1:455) and James T. (d. 1876, Will WAJ Jr#1:464). These can be ordered from Maryland State Archives, 350 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD 21201, in case anyone is researching these Birds. There was also a Francis Bird who married Jane Littleton and they were in PG Co. in the early 1700's with children Francis, Thomas and John. I think they were in King George's Parish, which means the general Piscataway area of the County. An 1878 map of Surratts Election Districe (#9) in PG Co. shows a James and Henry Bird risiding a short distance west of Surrattsville and would have been part of King George's Parish during the colonial period. The PG Gen. Soc. can be reached at PO Box 819, Bowie, MD 20718-0819 or (301)262-2063. Hope this helps some Bird watchers. Glenda

    3. Dear members, Christmas time is almost here and I'm sure you are all doing your shopping and filling the Christmas lists. How bout adding Rootsweb to your Christmas list this year? Why should we make a donation to Rootsweb? Well without Rootsweb we wouldn't have this mailing list. I'm sure many of you remember last year when Maiser (the former host for mailing list)was hit by massive spam and crashed. Oh man it was sad to have empty mailboxes, till Rootsweb stepped in and let us start mailing list to their service. Rootsweb installed a spam blocker this year to keep all spam off the list. As the one who receives this blocked mail, I've seen a great deal of spam being blocked from this mailing list. I'm sure those of you on AOL are glad to not have to delete any more spam. Also thru the year Rootsweb has had a few crashes due to spam but have been able to keep the mail going due to Around the clock maintenance. Rootsweb is also the one we need to Thank for USGENWEB and WORLDGENWEB. These sites are valueable for our research in states counties and other parts of the world. Plus we have the archives, surname searches, census and tombstone projects to help in our searches thanks to Rootsweb. Now they would like to add more but can't unless more join the Cooperative. Currently rootsweb is supported by only 2-5% of it's users, they need more like 25-50% for the resources needed. Want to help? Here's how you can support them and remember them for Christmas (a Time for sharing what they do for us all year long); WANT TO HELP BRING MORE GENEALOGICAL RESOURCES ONLINE? RootsWeb is entirely community-supported: your membership is crucial in enabling RootsWeb to continue to add more genealogical data, Web sites, and mailing lists. 3. "Elijah Bird/Byrd in Lenoir County, North Carolina 1800-1830." >From your message to the Bird mailing list. Elijah Byrd could have been the son of Joshua Byrd who, along with other members of the Byrd's in Lenoir County, moved to Johnston County. I believe that Elijah Byrd was the brother of my Sutton Byrd. If this is the same one, during the 1810's this family moved to Johnston Co. Sutton began to buy property in the mid 1810's and continued long into that period. He died in 1865 in Johnston Co. I don't have my Byrd book with me but I think this is the same family. Elisha Byrd was apparently another son as well as at least Joshua Jr. Some of them stayed in Lenoir to the best of my recollection but I know for certain that Sutton and Elisha owned adjoining property in the Elevation Township portion of Johnston Co. I will look into this further and let you know what I have in my files. The other Byrd (Abner) I do not have anything on. What is your connection to this family? Sutton was my great great grandfather, who apparently was born in NC (possibly Lenoir) and moved to Johnston. He married, for probably the second or third time, in 1845 to Peggy Johnson. According to census records he would have been born about 1785 and his will indicates that he died in late 1856 or early 1857. 3. Does anyone know for sure if Elisha Bird, b 1753, son of James and Mary Burtis, married Ziba Osmun's widow or his daughter? The paper on Elisha Bird from the Detroit Genealogy Magazine states that Rachael was Ziba's widow. However, Osmun researchers I spoke with think that Elisha married Ziba and Rachael's daughter, also named Rachael. Ziba and Rachael also had a son named Ziba who married Joanna Dotty, and this is well-documented. They give Ziba Jr's birthdate as approx 1750, and if this is true, Elisha's wife Rachael born in 1751 would have to be his sister, not his mother. Am I making any sense? Ziba Osmun Sr. died in 1777 in Alexandria, NJ, but no one knows when he was born. I'd appreciate any feedback on this. If your message is written in HTML or enriched text then the messages will not be accept this also go for attachments. Please read the below message from Rootsweb Staff. Thanks, Lisa Cleversey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ RootsWeb accepts only plain text mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'', and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists. You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail reader, or don't use any attachments. See http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/listowners/html-off.htm for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help. We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail programs that are capable of processing the special file formats. Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all, HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers, so we find it's best just to use plain text. -- The RootsWeb staff -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Co-List Owner COOK, List Owner BIRD & NYSTEUBE (Steuben Co NY) Heartland/Fields Community Leader -2500-2999 Heartland Genealogy Society & Web Ring Co-Chairman-http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/2416 cleversey's Home Page-http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/5421 cleversey@geocities.com -Icq #9492621
