    3. I don't usually get in on these things but want to reiterate what these lists are all about, which is to help the people who subscribe to them. Many people have a tendency to sit back and just ask for help and look- ups, which is fine, while others take the time to include something that may not help at the present, but will certainly help someone in the future. I do many look-ups which could be found by searching the Internet and I don't mind. I enjoy helping others and corresponding with potential cousins. The kind person who took the time to list the obituaries was only trying to help someone. We might find more ancestors if everyone took the time to include what we know about our Bird/Byrd families and wile what we include will not help everyone, hopefully it will help someone along the line. 1. [BIRD-L] Obituaries are Important for Archives
    2. Fellow Bird Researchers and Allen: I want to strongly second the views earlier on the value of the obituaries for all Bird researchers. Yesterday, Allen also put several on the Mullins list (and who knows what other lists). THESE OBITS GO IN THE ARCHIVES. They may be extremely helpful to another researcher some day. I almost always search the archives before I do a post. I personally have put on lists my familly's descendants to the 1930s or so from back to the ggg grandparents where I am pretty much stuck in several cases. In most of these cases, I have figured out I am a party of one descended from that particular couple on the list. So, I say thanks to Allen (and should have yesterday). Janet Hunter, ggg granddaughter of John Byrd and Nancy Couts (TN>MO)

Writing a member with the matter that ME2Gd was just written to is not going to happen on this list. We are all adults on these list and should handle ourselves as such. If anyone receives a letter of this nature Please Forward it to me and DO NOT post it to the list, I will deal with the person myself. Language like this will not be tolerated. 3. The Obituaries are Genealogy and they will be in the Bird-L archives for future researchers. Though it might help when submitting them that the state they are from was listed in the subject line. This way anyone not searching that state can just hit the delete key. 3. I have the following. I am sending only part of it because it is huge. Let me know if anyone wants all of it.. Rosalie Descendants of Burgeon Bird Generation No. 1 1. BURGEON5 BIRD (ANDREAS JR4 BORDT, ANDREAS SR3, JOHN2 BIRD, THOMAS1) was born April 30, 1707 in Reformed Dutch C, Raritan, Somerville Co, NJ, and died Aft. 1773 in Black Creek, Ogeechee River, St Phillips Pari, GA. He married MARY ROBESON 1736 in St Gabriel's Chu, Douglasville, Berks County, PA, daughter of ISREAL ROBESON and UNK. Notes for BURGEON BIRD: WFT 6-340 Probably buried in the Bird Family Cemetery, Black Creek area of the Ogeechee River, now in present day Bryan County GA. - John Wise Database Moved from Berks County PA to St Phillips Parish on the Ogeechee River, Georgia in the mid to late 1750's because they were promised landgrants. Burgeon Bird, with his family, i.e. wife and children: Christina, Israel, Sylvanus, Abraham, Andrew, Sarah, and Margaret, settled on Black Creek, a tributery of the Ogee chee River, and located in what is now the present Bryan County, Georgia. Except for a few descendents that lived just across the county line in nearby Effingham and Bulloch Counties, GA., almost all of the Bird family plantations and home sites were located in what is now the present day Black Creek area of Bryan County GA., not too far from Pembroke, Bryan County, GA. ON 6 Jan 1767, Burgeon Bird applied for and received a land grant from the Colonial British Governor for 100 acres on Black Creek, located then in the southern part of St. Phillip Parish, GA. His sons received similar land grants in the same area and about the same time period. >From 1760 to 1770 Burgeon Bird and his sons Andrew, Abraham, and Israel were given land grants amounting to over 400 acres each. A deed recorded in Book A1 p 330 under date Sep 14 1754 recites Burgoon Bird of the New Indian Purchase in Berks Co., to Peter Conrath of Heidelburg Twp, Lancaster Co. - improvement on the mouth of Mahanin Creek south by River Schuykill; West by land surveyed for George Boone; North by James Boone's land; northeast by Francis Parvin's land; east by hill of vacant land 300 acres - surveyed, by warrent to Burgoon Bird". Rec'd Mar 16 1759 Burgoon Bird married a daughter of Iarael Robeson of Robeson Twp, Berks Co., as is proven by the will of Israel Robeson made Mar 1 1769. "I give and bequeath unto the Children of my Eldest Daughter, Mary Bird, Deceased, Wife to Burgoon Bird, the sum of One Hundred & Fifty Pounds lawful money to be equally divided amongst them by my executors one year after my decease or as soon as may be." Two children of Burgoon Bird and his wife Mary were baptozed in St. Gabriel's Church, Douglassille, one in 1735 and the other in 1737. Burgoon Bird disappears from Berks Co and nothing more known of him until we find in Deed Book 14 p 430 the following: "Israel Bird, County of Scriven, Georgia, Executor of the will of Sylvanus Bird, deceased. Diana Bullock, late Diana Bird, Widow. Abraham Bird, Co, of Effingham, Georgia. Shared McCall, Bryan Co., Georgia and wife Margaret, only daughter and heir at law of Abraham Bird, deceased. 3. Dear Lynette: I was very interested in your post on Bourgon Brocaud (Brokaw). " Legend" has it that Mary Brokaw, b abt 1684, daughter of Bourgon Brocaud and Catherine LeFevre married Andrew Bird abt 1701 in Newtown, Queens, NY and then moved to Raritan. This differs from your records. I'm not sure what the assumption I have is based on, since it's second hand, but I believe it was from records of the Dutch Reformed Church of Raritan. Andrew and Mary have a son Burgeon and a daughter Catherine. Have you any ideas about this?
