Hi Group: On 18 July 1835 Adam Bird married Mary Ann Sheeler, probably in Newton, Sussex County, NJ. Looking for anyone who may have information on either Adam or Mary Ann. Adam is listed in the 1830 Census for Newton (I think it's him). I believe Adam's brother was or could have been William Bird who married Lottishey Hornbeck in June 1826. William moved to Pennsylvania, Adam remained in NJ as late as 1865. Adam had two known daughers, Malvina and Elsie. Paul
Dear Daniel: I have been trying to "sort out" all the Bird families of NJ, and came across your web page. VERY NICE!!! Because I work in Rahway, I have spent a lot of time looking into the families of Jeremiah Bird, b 1675, and Joseph Bird, b 1680, of Rahway ward, Elizabethtown, Essex Co, NJ. I think they were brothers. I noticed in you ancestral file that you have Benjamin Freeman Bird as a son of Joseph Bird and Elizabeth Marsh of Rahway. According to the Morris County marriage records, BF of Roxbury married Milly Reeves of Roxbury, Morris Co. In the abstract of wills, there is a will of Esther Freeman,1787, wife of Benjamin Freeman of Hanover, Morris Co, in which she mentions her daughter Elizabeth Bird. I was thinking that this Elizabeth might be the mother of Benjamin Freeman Bird, not Elizabeth Marsh. There was at least one family named Bird living in Roxbury at the time - there is a David Bird and an Andrew Bird in the 1778 tax rolls. perhaps Ben's father is one of these men, or one of their sons. Let me know what you think of this. I'm trying to fond a marriage record of Elizabeth Freeman to a Mr. Bird abt 1770 in Morris Co. Hi everyone: My ancestor, has come up with several names, for a while I was only dealing with two, now we have three. I am trying to see if anyone can pinpoint one of these ladies. Here they are: Lottishey Hornbaker Letitia Hornbaker Lotishey Hornbaker Matiala Hornbecker I believe that she married William Bird on JUN 24, 1826. It is believed they were from Sussex Co., possibly the Newton area. William was born in November, 1801. Thanks Paul
Hello All - I am seeking info on my BIRD relatives who emigrated from Krakow, Poland>Steven's Point, WI, USA, around 1880. Their Polish name was PTAK which means "bird." Apparently, it's not a very common Polish name, but I've had a hard time searching through all the English variants on the Internet for any info. on my family. The only mention of our PTAKs on this side of the Atlantic I can verify was a marriage sponsor Tadeusz PTAK for Luke and Sohpie BIRD in Nainaimo, BC CAN. Dear Members, I received a letter from a member of one of these list asking me Why I removed them. I would like to clear up one thing with all of you, I don't remove anyone from any of these three list. I simplely let the computers of Rootsweb handle the removeals. The only reason the computer would remove you is do to bouncing mail. I've seen members of you that are on at least two of these list have bouncing mail on one but not the other, the only answer I have is that different computers handle different list. If for some reason you get bounced off a list please don't assume that I did it. I only go in and remove a person when they are having trouble removing themselves and have asked me for help. If you receive mail stateing you have been removed Please just resub yourself and put it off as a computer thingy. If I was to remove you for any other reason such as flaming then you would also be blocked from resub'ing till futher notice and you would be notified that I was removing you and why. Thank You all for being such wonderful and understanding members, I appreciate everyone of you. I am searching for any information on my 3rg great-grandfather, Samuel Byrd, who was born in NC or SC in ca. 1804. He married Polly Ann Ray and had quite a few children including my 2nd great-grandmother, Josephine Byrd. Samuel eventually ends up in Hardin County, Tennessee, where he can be found in 1860 and 1870. He probably dies before 1880, but that has not been confirmed yet. I would appreciate any assistance in finding out more about Samuel. Scott Byrd Chesaeake, VA
I am in search of information regarding William Byrd, who was born in about 1755 in South Carolina. He is found living with my third great grandfather, Lewis Byrd, in Hardin County, Tennessee in the 1850 census at the advanced age of 95 years. I believe this is the same William Byrd who can be found in 1840 in Roane County, Tennessee at the age of 84 years and as a Revolutionary War pensioner. I know nothing else about him, so any help at all would be great. Thanks in advance. Scott Byrd Chesapeake, VA

Found, in lineage book of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims, the lineage of Frances Stewart, b 1778 who married John Bird. Her brother John Stewart married John's brother Sarah Bird. This lineage chart goes back to Lauris Opdyck of Holland, and another line goes back to Joachim Andriessen (Anderson). let me know if you're interested. In the Elizabeth, NJ library, found a book titled "The History of Elizabeth". It has a reprint of a Tory newspaper article which mentions how the rebel, Jeremiah Bird, was taken prisoner along with twenty others by British troops from Staten Island during a raid on Rahway. If anyone is interested, let me know. Also found tombstone inscriptions for two of Joseph (Jeremiah's brother) and Susannah's children who died young. Howdy all. I am currently in the process of trying to research my ancestry on my father's side. He, his father, and his grandfather were all named Edward. I have included the highlights of the information that I have so far. Except for my mother, I have no information on the families of any of the spouses. I would love to find more info on these people. Edward Michael (Mike) Burd, (1933- ), from Ann Arbor, MI. married (1957) Lois Jacqueline Woll (1934-1997) Edward Morris Burd, (c1888-1934) of Jackson, MI. married (1926) Mary Elizabeth Taylor (c1894-1974) [marriage license shows that Edward was previously married, one time] Edward E. Burd, (c1861-1935), of Grand Rapids, MI. married (???) Jennie Norris (???-???) Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated. I am also very interested in trying to find out more information regarding my grandfather. His marriage to my grandmother was his second, and I currently have no info at all on the first wife or any children from that marriage. I will be happy to share all info with anyone who is interested. Jim Burd :) Boulder, CO
Help Need & Wanted Please! I'm a gen newbie who is quite disillusioned and beginning to lose hope. My parents (John Everett BIRD & Phyllis Johnson) married in Abt. 1936 in Everett, WN. They divorced 18 months later and I lived with my mother. Sadly both parents died before I could check out ancestry. My husband and I migrated to Australia 30 years ago and although I have tried recently to begin tracing my ancestry it is most difficult as I virtually only have the internet to help. The above reference to Michael Bird is virtually all I know except that he was married to Sarah McNAMARA and they had 9 children - Jack, Joseph V., Bernard Francis (my grandfather), Sarah, Margaret, Thomas, Nancy, May Gertrude and Dorothy. Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to discover anyone connected with my line - past or present. Many thanks John J Halls Head WA Australia zoneiljj@southwest.com.au

Glenda: Andrew Bird of Raritan came from Newtown, Queens County, Long Island, NY. I don't know if this fits with him being a son of Thomas of VA - I have him as being from a Connecticut family, but there really isn't any proof of this. It seems as if Thomas and Mary Howlett Bird's children are all well-documented. Does Andrew fit into that well? I'd really like to find out for sure who Andrew's parents are. Hi I'm rather new to this BIRD list. Also to researching this family. I have a 40 year old family tree my brother did for school with my Father's help. Both my brother and Dad are gone and I can't find another family member to help me decipher the poor, faded handwriting. It might be BRED, BIRD or a list of other possibilities. With all the conversations about BIRD families, I was hoping some one could point me in the correct direction to get further information on my Mary Ann Bird, parents names, siblings, place of birth, date of birth, etc. Mary Ann BIRD would be my GGGrandmother on Dad's on his paternal, maternal side???? What I have is that Mary Ann xxxx married my GGGF Edward B. OLDER. No marriage date. Edward B. OLDER was born in Dover, Kent, England. I had been told the name may have been HOLDER and the "H" was dropped when they moved to VA. Their children were born, starting in 1834/1835 in England. Someone on an internet listing said she is Mary Ann BIRD, was born about 1806, her father is A. BIRD and her mother is J. BIRD. They referred me to a relative of their's who doesn't know where he got the info. The only census listing I have for Edward B and Mary Ann OLDER is at age 44 for both of them, in Kanawha Co. VA/WV in 1850. They lived and died in the Poca District of Kanawha Co. on Sissionville Road. The 1850 and 1860 (they were both 55 years) census indicate they were both born in England, as well as their children. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Norma
