    1. [BIRD-L] Henry BIRD family, 1850s, Great Bend, PA
    2. David Reckhow
    3. I'm looking for the family of Henry and Mary Bird. Henry Bird and Mary Rickhow were married on November 19, 1840 in Susquehanna County. They were both residents of Great Bend, PA. By 1850 they had 3 children: Jane Ellen (b.ca. 1844), Julia (b.ca.1845) and Charles A. (b.ca.1848). The last trace of them I can find is from a land transaction in Great Bend in 1856. Where did they go after this date? Any clues, no matter how tangential, would be appreciated. Thanks. 3. Hi, I am looking for descendants or anyone who has information on James BIRD who married Mary TAYLOR probably in the Coventry area. They had at least 2 sons. George BIRD was born 1844 and joined the navy. In 1881 he left the navy and later emigrated to Australia. The other son was Harry. He was a watchmaker and J.P. He was knighted but I don't know what for. At one time he lived in Chingford, Essex, which is now part of London I believe. Do you think there may be a link between our families? 3. Fred Bird married my Gr Aunt, Myra Sutherland, b 1882, N.S. He was a Sociology Professor, Columbia University; she was a registered nurse. I believe they were married in Teheran, Iran (Persia) where he taught at American(?) University. Their only child, Jean Bird, was born there in 1917. They returned to U.S. soon after birth of Jean. Sometime later Fred & Myra were divorced. I understand, Fred continued his Professorship at Columbia. I was hoping that someone may have known Fred; maybe he remarried and had another family who may know about his daughter, Jean Bird who may still be alive. Jean Bird married a Mark Abrams and they lived in London, I've been told. They had a daughter, Sarah Abrams, b 1946. Any help? Thanks, dana
