I show Amos Byrd Sr., as son of Andrew and Madelene. Amos born 1737 Augusta County married to Sarah Ruddle. I believe I found this particular data in the LDS ancestrial file and do not have my own sources noted. Linda
Hellooo out there. I am a new member of the list. I am descended from Amos Byrd, b. ca. 1738 in Va. Died in Cape Girardeau Co.,Mo. in 1818. Married Sarah Ruddle. I descend thru his daughter Sallie(Sarah) & her husband George Hays. I am trying to determine from where in Va. Amos originated. I have a cc of a 1783 Greene Co., Tn. Tax List that states "The first pioneers here were the Gillespies, Crocketts, etc. and Amos Byrd from Westover Manor in Va.If this be the case and if I understand correctly. this would make Amos the son of Andrew & Magdalene Byrd. I seek any info to verify this information. Thank you Jack

Anyone know who this Thomas Bird was? Glenda Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed., Kenton Co. DR. THOMAS BIRD, of Covington, Ky., a native of London, England, was born August 2, 1812, and is the third and only survivor of a family of five children born to Thomas and Sarah (Dyke) Bird. Thomas Bird, Sr., a son of Samuel and Susan (Buckley) Bird, was born at the Reilth, November 10, 1775 and died September 4, 1835; his wife was born Feb 22, 1782, and died June 9, 1800; they were members of the established church of England. Our subject was educated in Shropshire, England, and received his medical education in Dublin, Ireland. In 1841 he located at Covington, Ky., where he has since lived, having practiced his profession until old age intervened, and is now engaged in the drug trade. He was brought up a member of the Episcopal Church. He was, indeed, the founder, builder and preserver of that church in Covington. From time to time he has held all the offices of the church. He always voted the Democratic ticket. In 1844 he married Miss Ellen Blakeway, daughter of Roger and Elizabeth (Dyke) Blakeway, who was born in 1812 at Wootton Hall, England, and died in 1883, a member of the Episcopal Church. Two children blessed their marriage, Francis and Flora; the former died in 1886, having been associated with his father in business. Bird Dyke Buckley Blakeway = England

Hi everyone wanted to share the newest addition to Rootsweb with you. I tried this and found it very useful. Read the below information and check it out for you self. Good Luck, Lisa Cleversey List Owner ROOTSWEB PUTS IT TOGETHER. Have you ever wished you could look up *everything* at RootsWeb that relates to a particular surname? Now you can! By going here; http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/ Click on the letter of the alphabet for the surname of interest, and then select it from the list that appears. This will take you to a "surname resource cluster," where you can search for your surname in numerous databases. For example, using BANKSTON you would find: <http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/b/a/BANKSTON/>, where you could search "B" WEB SITES, the OBITUARY DAILY TIMES, or: o The ROOTSWEB SURNAME LIST (RSL). RSL search options are by surname, Soundex, or Metaphone (the latter two are "sounds- like" matches). You can search for updates from the past two months, last month, last week, or for any mention. o TRANSCRIPTION PROJECTS. You might check to see if your immigrant ancestors' names are listed at the Immigrant Ship Transcribers Guild (ISTG). o PRIMARY RECORDS AT ROOTSWEB (from USGenWeb Archives and RootsWeb Searchable Databases). o GENERAL LINKS AND SEARCH ENGINES. There are three options. o ROOTSLINK link registry. You can add a new link also. o SEEKER search engine, which returns surname matches from Web pages -- there is much "hidden genealogy" that this search will help you find. o SURNAME HELPER search engine finds queries and surname registrations posted at various genealogically-related sites on the Web, with participating sites including many USGenWeb and WorldGenWeb sites. All GenConnect boards are indexed in Surname Helper. o MAILING LISTS. Descriptions of lists that relate to this surname, subscription instructions, and links to the archives so you can search or browse past postings. o GENCONNECT. Click on GLOBAL SURNAME SEARCH to find queries that mention the surname of interest that are posted in connection with any county, state, or country in the world. Or click an icon for one of the seven automated boards that together make up a "suite" of boards available for surnames and localities (Queries, Bible records, Biographies, Deeds, Obituaries, Pensions, and Wills). RootsWeb hopes that putting these links under one SURNAME RESOURCES roof will help everyone find all the buried treasure. -- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Co-List Owner COOK, List Owner BIRD & NYSTEUBE (Steuben Co NY) Heartland/Fields Community Leader -2500-2999 Heartland Genealogy Society & Web Ring Co-Chairman-http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Ranch/2416 cleversey's Home Page-http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/5421 cleversey@geocities.com -Icq #9492621

Hi, I've been searching for gg grandfather, Nathaniel H. Bird who went by N H or Nat. I have not been able to find him on Georgia census. Hunting another branch of family I found Naption H. Bird on 1850 Cherokee Co AL census. He is 11 yrs old. Mine was supposed to be born 3-4-1841. A close name and time. So does anyone out there have info on this Naption? Could he be my Nat. who came to TX early 1873. We have been wondering if possible he had changed name. What we do know is he married Lucy Pollard and she was from Merriweather Co GA. They lived near Moundville GA. This Naption was son of Jacob Bird and mother was Celia. Siblings were Phebe, Ruth, William Catherine, Sarah, and Mary. My Nat named a son William. Yes I am reaching for straws, but if anyone has info I sure would appreciate it. Thanks Sherry Douglas

Eldridge Millgedge Bird has been a "dead end" for my family for many years. Briefly, my maternal lineage goes as follows: My mother is Edith Marie Bird(maiden name) b. 1923 Thurber, Tx Her father: Eldred Holloway Bird b. 1890 Hazelhurst, Ms His Father: Dr. Levi Garrison Bird b. 1846 Edgefield, Edgefield, SC His Father: Eldridge Milledge Bird b. b.1805 Edgefield, SC We have never proven who his parents were. There has been speculation that his father was Captain Daniel Bird b. 1784, who lived in the Edgefield District, and was from a prominent local family. I studied the 1810 and 1820 Cesus reports for Edgefield District and based on that information believe that it is a reasonable conclusion that Daniel Bird was not the father of Eldred Bird. I could be wrong, however. I would be willing to trade information with you in any form you choose. I can prepare a Gedcom, pedigree charts, or whatever you would like. Who do you show as the parents of Eldred Millege Bird and what was his year and place of birth? I will be looking forward to hearing from you!! Sincerely, Chuck Pierson --------------BA61C62E558EB050F5F33059--
