    1. [BIRD-L] Richard and Larkin Bird
    2. Torres Household
    3. I recently found the will of my great grandfather Larkin Bird. He died in 1844 from injuries he substained in the War with Mexico. He and his family lived in Hendricks Co, Indiana prior to the war. He lived in Estille Co, Kentucky in the cen. of 1840. He was born in Va. I would like to trace this line further back but I am stuck. I found a list of Soliders in the War, and noticed that a Richard also fought in the same company and also from Hendricks Co. I am assuming this is his brother. He also had a son Richard, but, think he was too young to fight in this battle. Can anyone tie into these lines? Thanks, Elsetta- torres@netport.com

    1. [BIRD-L] KNOX, MAGRUDER, BIRD/BYRD--- Edgefield Co.,SC and Columbia Co., GA -1800>
    2. James Bohler
    3. In the "History fo BYRD/BIRD Family 1652-1953" by Lucille C. BYRD in 1953 (found in Old Edgefield District Archives Library in Edgefield, SC, it has information about the daughters of Daniel Bird I, who died in 1806, the son of William Byrd III. It says that one of Daniel's daughters married Sanders Rearden, one married Jadock MAGRUDER, and one married Benjamin Tradwell. There is also MAGRUDER information in the AGS Library in Augusta, GA, that says that Zadock MAGRUDER married 1st a Miss BIRD, 2nd a Miss Talbot (could be spelled differently) and 3rd Tracey Reardon. Zadock and Miss BIRD had one daughter, Eliza B. MAGRUDER born 1803 - died 1872 in Columbia Co., GA, who married in Richmond Co., GA 5 Oct 1823 to Peter KNOX born 1791 near Edinburgh, Scotland and died 1852 in Columbia Co., GA. I am looking for information on any of these families and would really, really like to learn the name of the Miss BIRD that Zadock MAGRUDER married as I am sure that Zadock and Jadock are the same person and that there was either a typo or the letter Z was written in a way that it looked like a J. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I will gladly share whatever information that I have. Thank you, Jan Bohler jbohler@bellsouth.net

    2. Tina Hall
    3. I am seeking the parents of WILLIAM BIRD/BYRD & ELIZABETH LANG. They were married on June 29th, 1809 in Adams county, MS. I have one child for them - Mahala Arsilla (Sissley) Bird/Byrd b. 1819 in Wilkinson co., MS m. David Day July 10, 1838 in Wilkinson co., MS. I am also looking for birth dates for this couple and death dates. Their marriage record shows WILLIAM BIRD to E. LANG. This is all I have, and just recently found that. I was under the impression that the spelling of BIRD was BYRD. Decided to check the other spelling and found them. I had Elizabeth's last name as LONG, but also knew that it could also have been LANG, so I knew it was them. Any help on this couple would be greatly appreciated. They are my GGGG-Grandparents. happy hunting, Tina Hall thall@netos.com Tina's Family Genealogy Page at: http://members.xoom.com/tina_hall/ ******************************************** Viruses are like Pandora's Box, if you don't open it, it cannot harm you.

    3. Kimberly, I don't have information for you but the name you are uncertain of reminded me of my Aunt Tennie. Her full name (that I have never heard used) is Tennessee. You might consider the possibility of that being used in records and also may be a clue as to family origin. Anne Hedgpeth

    1. [BIRD-L] CLEOPATRA - Your step-grandmother
    2. Fellow "BIRD-scribers", Last month, a message sent to our list by Sandra Ragan / Plum Grafik was distributed to the BIRD list. For those of you who are of that line, this message will stretch the vertical capabilities of your FTM file…by taking you back yet another 35 generations. I subscribe to this list looking for the parents of my earliest known BIRD ancestor, JOHN BIRD (b. Nov 4, 1792 in Pendleton Co., VA / d. May 12, 1869 in Trivoli, Peoria Co., Ill) who married MARGARET HAYS (b. April 3, 1793 in Augusta Co., VA / d. April 19, 1871). JOHN and MARGARET had 10 children…JOHN may have had 10 kids, but I am finding it hard to believe he had any parents! I am also of the TILGHMAN (TILLMAN) line (JOHN's great grand daughter married into this line). This particular line goes back to the 2nd century BC through CHARLEMAGNE. So, if your BIRD line goes through CHARLEMAGNE, this listing will include 35 generations of grandparents you would not know about if you were content to stop with CHARLEMAGNE. The source is a 1959 book written by JAMES DAVID TILLMAN, JR. titled, "Tillman & Hamilton Family Records". This listing starts with one of the more famous people of his time and works forward to CHARLEMAGNE. Enjoy!!! 1. MARK ANTHONY (BC 83-30), married 4th, OCTAVIA, half sister of CAESAR AUGUSTUS. MARK ANTHONY later married CLEOPATRA , the Queen of Egypt, his fifth wife (your step grandmother!!!) He was a Roman statesman and general, and associate of JULIUS CAESAR. Their daughter: 2. ANTONIA, married DRUSUS, adopted son of AUGUSTUS, whose mother was LIVIA. Their son: 3. TIBERIUS CLAUDIUS DRUSUS (BC 10-54), Emperor of Rome. His daughter: 4. VENISSA (Venus Julia), married ARVIRAGUS, a Druid King, 11th son of CUNOBELINE (__-40 AD), educated in Rome by CAESAR, King of Britain, who was son of TENUSUTIUS, who was son of LUD (died BC 62), son of BELI who died BC 72 (earliest known ancestor of CHARLEMAGNE mentioned in this book). CUNOBELINE's brother, CARADOC, went to Rome in 60 A.D.. Their son: 5. MARIUS (Meric) married a daughter of BOADICEA, Queen of Iceni (died 62 AD) whose husband PROSUTAGUS left a will in 60 AD bequeathing his wealth jointly to his two daughters and the Roman Emperor, hoping to sae their inheritance. However, it was disregarded by the Roman authorities in Britain. The record of Marius is well preserved in ancient Welsh manuscripts. Iceni is now Suffolk and Norfolk counties in England. Their son: 6. COLIUS I, King of Britain in 125 AD, was educated in Rome; he died 170 AD. His daughter: 7. ATHILDIS, married MARCOMIR IV, King of Franconia (__ - 149 AD). Their son: 8. CLODIMIR IV (__-166 AD), King of the Franks, married HASILDA. Their son: 9. FAROBERT (__-186 AD) his son: 10. SUNNO (__-213 AD). His son: 11. King HILDERIC (__-253 AD). His son: 12. King BETHERUS (__-272 AD). His son: 13. King CLODIUS III (__-298 AD). His son: 14. King WALTER (__-306 AD). His son: 15. King DAGOBERT (__-317 AD). His son: 16. GENOBALD I (__-350 AD), Duke of East Franks. His son: 17. King DAGOBERT (__-379 AD). His son: 18. King CLODIUS IV (__-389 AD). His son: 19. King MARCOMIR (__-404 AD). His son: 20. PHAROMOND (__-427 AD), Duke of the Franks and King of Westphalis; his wife AGATHA (Argotta). Their son: 21. CHLODIS "The Long Haired" (__-447 AD), King of Westphalia, married BASINA. Their son: 22. MEREVEE (__-458), King of Franconia, Married VERICA. Their son: 23. CHILDERIC I (437-481) married BASINGA (sister or wife of BASIN, King of Thuringia). Their son: 24. CLOVIS "The Great" (465-511) married in 493, ST. CHLOTILDE (474-545) sister of THEODORIC, King of Austrasia, whose capital was at Metz. She led CLOVIS to embrace Christianity. Her father was CHILDERIC II, King of Bergundy, son of GRUNDIOC (__-473); her mother was AGRIPPINA. Their son: 25. CHLOTHAIRE I (__-561), sole King of France, his capital at Soisson. Married Ingonde. Their daughter: 26. BLITHILDE, married AUSBERT of Moselle. Their son: 27. ARNULF (__-598), Bishop of Metz, married ODA DE SAVOY. Their son: 28. ST. ARNULF (580-640), Bishop of Metz, married Lady DODO of Saxony. Their son: 29. Married ALPAIDE (or CHALPAIDE). Their son: 31. CHARLES MARTEL "The Hammer" (689-741), King of France, married ROTRUDE ((__-724). Their son: 32. PEPIN III "The Short" (714-768), King of France, married BERTHA (BARTRADE) (__-783) daughter of CHARIBERT, Count of Laon. Their son: 33. CHARLEMAGNE (742-814), married 2nd, HILDEGARDE. He was known by many titles, including Charles the Great, King of Lombardy, Emperor of the West, etc. Their son: 34. LOUIS I "The Pious" (778-804)(to the TILGHMAN / TILLMAN line) If any my fellow 'BIRD-scribers" are interested in how the TILLMANs split from the BIRD line at this point, please let me know. The TILLMAN data base is one of the largest around. I have not seen the "CHARLEMAGNE" book mentioned in this forum last month…am curious to know where the lines do actually split. Hope you've enjoyed this genealogical romp through the dark ages!!! Kind of leaves you wandering just who BELI's parents are (see #4)(?). Tom Wilson (Boca Raton, FL)

    2. My Bird friends: In my previous post on the book, I need to clarify that when I said my ex-spouse of a Byrd, I meant a fellow I work have worked with for 20 plus years... I am of the Byrds who landed in Robertson Co TN late 1700s,early 1800s, seemed to have ancestors in Pittsylvania, Henry, Franklin, Russell, VA, etc....carried chains, signed petitions, bought land, were on tax lists, appeared in all manner of "primary" documents BUT NOT wills and marriages. AARGH!! Of course they did move with the CHOATES and if you want to know about the wild Southern Choates go to the Choate archives. Janet Hunter

    1. [BIRD-L] Susan Bird od Canaan, CT
    2. James Hannum
    3. In 1791, Susan (Susannah) Bird was the wife of James Earle, and the couple lived in Huntington Twp of Luzerne Co PA. A History of the Huntington Valley said that Susan Bird was from Canaan (Litchfield County) CT. I have found a number of Birds who lived in Salisbury Town, next door to Canaan, in Litchfield Co, but so far, no Susan; there was a Joseph Bird of Canaan who married a Huldah Sprague of Canaan, but that is the closest I`ve been able to get. Has anyone in the group heard of Susan? Jim Hannum
