    1. [BIRD-L] Robert Bird of England, 1555
    2. Galloway Family
    3. Although I subscribe to the Bird list, I only have two "Birds" to work with: Robert Bird Born: Abt 1555, Towcester, Northamptonshire, England Married: 1583, Towcester, " " " Died: 22 Jul 1622, Towcester, " " " His wife was named Amy, but I have no other info on her. They had 2 children (that I know about): Perris Bird, no additional info. and Dorothy Bird (my ancestor) Born: 1588, Benefield, Northamptonshire, England Christened: 25 May 1588, St. Lawrence Church, Towcester, England Married: 23 Feb 1610, Towcester, Northamptonshire, England Died: 2 Aug 1676, Hartford, Hartford County, CT She married: Dr. Thomas Lord Born: 1585 Died: 1645 Here is some info on the Lords: Thomas Lord was a man of means, position and influence, and in 1632 he sent his eldest son, Richard, then about 21 years of age, to America. He settled at Newtown, Mass., which afterwards became Cambridge. In 1633, Governor Haynes and the Rev. Thomas Hooker, friends of Thomas Lord, sailed for America with about 200 passengers important to the colony, and it is thought that Richard Lord went in advance in order to select a place to settle. In 1636, with his entire family, ranging in age from 4 to 25, Thomas Lord joined the party of Rev. Hooker and Mr. Stone and one hundred men, women, and children which took its departure from Newtown to form a new settlement on the Connecticut River. (There's an historical monument next to Harvard University commemorating the starting point of this journey.) "They traveled more than one hundred miles through a hideous and trackless wilderness to Hartford. These were the first settlers of Hartford. One internet source says that Dorothy Bird and Thomas Lord had 12 children. I have the names of 8 of them and I descend from their son, John Lord. If anyone has info on Dorothy or Robert Bird and their ancestors in Towcester, England I would love to hear from you! 2. Marla Moore
    3. I've got new information on my gggrandfather, William T. Bird. He was born about 1841 in Crawford County, Indiana. There are several Birds in Crawford County in the 1840 census, but I don't know how they're related. I think that William T. was the son of Mason Bird and Catherine Mullins. I believe that Mason was born about 1788 in WV. Mason's mother may have been Fanny Mason (which is where he must have got his unusual name) and his father John Bird. Anyone out there know this family? Marla

    1. [BIRD-L] HELP!!!This is driving me NUTS!
    2. James Stone
    3. Some folks I know would argue that getting me "Nuts" is more of a putt than a drive. Never-the-less I need help with this item. PLEASE put the state, county or at least the CENTURY with your name request. We ALL have an interest in Bird/Burd/Byrd names or we wouldn't be on this list. If I see a long listing of Birds, I know that someone went through a great deal of effort to put it there. The parts of my family that I know well are very localized. If one puts in the title--or at least in the first line or so--some identifying item to let me know the list could be MY family, it would help. We are at our stage in this genealogy quest because someone spent some time helping us. We will all help others if we can. But, PLEASE HELP US HELP YOU! Thanks, all. James

    3. Bettye, there is an Old Campground Cemetery right on the Lamar and Marion Co., AL line and I have some Birds in that area. I will dig them out and let you know. Some of my Gann relatives are buried in this cemetery and the last time I was there, it was grown up so that we couldn't get around to all the graves. They have cleaned it up some but it may be back in the same shape. It is just over the Marion Co., AL line going toward Sulligent, AL and you turn off to the left and it is on the left at the top of the hill. Glenda
