    3. Ralph, Where is this Bird Family located? I have copied "The History of Byrd (Bird) Family 1652-1953" prepared by Lucille C. Byrd in 1953. This is the line that this book includes: John Byrd (a London goldsmith) and Grace Stegg William Byrd I (b.1652) married in 1673 to Mary Horsmander (they settled in VA in 1674) William Byrd II (b. 28 Mar 1674-26 August 1744) married Lucy Parke William Byrd III (b.1707 Daniel Byrd I (b. 1755-1806) after the Rev. War he moved with Elijah, Solomon, Hezekiah and John Byrd and settled in the 96 District, Edgefield County, SC. in the 1790 census Daniel Bird I was head of household with 2 sons and 5 daughters. His wife's name was Lucinda. One daughter married Sanders Rearden, one married Jadock Magruder and one married Benjamin Tradwell. My GGGGGrandfather was Zadock Magruder who was married 1st to a Miss Bird and they had a daughter named Eliza B. Magruder, who married Peter Knox in Richmond Co., GA. Zadock married 2nd a Miss Talbot and 3rd Tracie Reardon. Does anyone have any information on this family? I would be glad to share any information that I have. 3. In the 1850 Hardin County, TN Census, there is a William Bird living with my 3rd great-granfather, Lewis Byrd (Bird), who is 95 years old and was from South Carolina. I also think this is the same William who is in Roane County, TN in 1840, listed as an 84 year old Revolutionary War pensioner. Could this be the same William Bird that you are refering to? 1. [BIRD-L] CHARLES 1853-1929
    2. I'm wondering if anyone else has a piece or two to help fill in my puzzle or if maybe my pieces help someone else. This is the information I have on my branch of the Bird family. Unfortunately, the dates and places are virtually non-existent: Benjamin Bird July 10, 1792/July 3, 1825 Maria Merchant Aug.6, 1797/March 10, 1874 Harriet Bird March 5, 1817/Dec. 5, 1876 George J. Bird Oct. 17, 1818/Dec. 8, 1880 Charles Granderson Bird Aug. 30, 1820/ Aug. 30, 1893 Benjamin N. June 16, 1823/ Martin Adolphus Bird Oct. 22, 1848 Charles Harvey Bird April 17, 1853/March4, 1929 John Henry Bird Oct. 15, 1862/ There is also a Moore listed as being born Dec 10, 1797 and (possibly Ann) Moore dying Aug 31, 1893 There is also a Joseph Bird who later moved to Anderson Indiana. It is unknown what his relationship is, but it was erroneously believed to be John H.’s brother. Perhaps it is Martin’s son or a cousin somehow. Charles Granderson Bird married Mary Ann Hood in Tecumseh, Michigan on Dec. 30, 1847. They were married by Chas Hewett. They had three sons: Martin A. Bird who married Tea Pugh on Dec. 13, 1876 by Rev. J. Franklin, Charles H. Bird who married Eva B. Kirkup (everyone called her Aunt Ev) on Nov. 24, 1898 by Rev. Ramsdell, and John H. Bird who married Helena (Lena) Sarah Kirkup Jan.1, 1890 by Rev. A.B. Stonne or Stonvr. John Henry Bird and Helena Sarah Kirkup had one son, Donald Kirkup Bird. They lived in Hudson Michigan. Donald Kirkup Bird married Elsie Marie Lawson (Sept. 26, 1894- Sept. 2, 1963) on January 1, 1917. They had two children: John Lawson Bird (July 25, 1922), my grandfather, and Ninette Marie Bird Laser. After Elsie died, Donald married Anna Russell on Dec. 11, 1968. Hopefully this will help someone. If anyone has any information like who Charles Bird's parents were or where he was from, etc. it would be much appreciated. Thank you, Michele Robinson

    3. Dear List Members: It is that time of year when many researchers get that first new computer and they begin signing on to the mailing lists by the dozens. They are excited and want to share and become involved overnight. Please be understanding. They will not follow the rules because they do not know them yet. If something slips through, please let it go by without response by you. I will take care of it from this side. I look forward, as you do, to learning what these new researchers might have on our ancestral lines. I do not want to discourage them from sharing, for they just might hold the key for one of us. Again, I want to thank each of you for helping to make our mailing list the friendly and helpful list it is. 1. [BIRD-L] Important message from List Owner (for COOK Co-Listowner)

    3. I'm very sorry to bother everyone right now but this is very important. Right now Rootsweb's list are being hit with Worm's, it seems some how even with the protection Rootsweb installed these worm's are getting through to members. This worm's are coming in as attachments and you all must remember a very important thing DO NOT download anything from anyone you do not know or didn't ask for. Especially right now if an attachment come through ANY message from a Rootsweb's list DO NOT open it, or look's like a message from the list. One of the virus worms I know of is "party.exe". Here's another one, W32.NewApt.Worm To learn more about these worms and more please view the following; http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html You can also type in a file name and it will tell you if it's a virus or not. There's a few other good virus sites out there, but I lost them this week when my computer decided to die on me :-(. Another good idea is to make sure you update your Virus protection program, if you don't have one I suggest you get one now. I haven't used one in all the years I've been on the Net but tomorrow I'm going to go invest in one, I've deleted several worm files tonight from these four list I manage. Thank You for letting me take up a few minutes of your time. Happy Holidays, Lisa R. There's a few other good virus sites out there, but I lost them this week when my computer decided to die on me :-(. Lisa, Thank you so much for the warning. I get these warnings all the time and have become somewhat complacent that most are hoaxes. I even have several of the anti-virus sites bookmarked and have sent out information to others at work about checking out virus warnings before forwarding them. Tonight, however, I received one of the viruses that you mentioned. It used a heading from an email that I sent to a friend right here in town in September (not through the list--just direct email). It sounded like a topic on which he would reply to me, but I thought it was strange that the website was just a humor site and had nothing to do with genealogy. Thank goodness my computer is finicky about opening attachments and would not open the attachment at the bottom of the page. The very next email that I read was your warning...and sure enough it was the W32.NewApt.Worm virus. I called my friend, and he DID NOT send me an email today. If anyone can explain how it took my four-months old email heading to him and sent it back to me with an attachment, I sure would like to know how it accomplished that little feat. So...I'm writing to second your warning and also to add...these emails may appear to be from someone you correspond with all the time and to be on topics that you would expect a genealogy correspondent to send you. I notice now that the heading looks a little different from my usual emails, in that it does not include a date line, but I don't know if this is always true. I plan to check out every attachment on the Symantic site before attempting to open it. The name of the virus is NOT what you'll see in the little attachment box's name line. Example: the name in the box on the virus just mentioned is "cooler1.exe." By searching that name on the anti-virus site it came up with the worm virus's name, description (exactly the text that had appeared on the email in question), and told me how to get rid of it in the event that I had opened it. Thanks again for the warning, Lisa. Sherry Johnson sherrjo@tenet.edu > >
