Thought someone might be interested in this. I found it while doing a Quaker Collection search. Deed - Halifax County, VA - July 12, 1856 S.A. and Rebecca Stanfield sell 543 acres (Lynnwood) to Abner Richardson (Deed Book 56, pg 447). The property was sold for $3100.00 and was on the waters of Lawson's Creek. This land had been deeded to S.A. Stanfield and Abner Richardson (May 17 and July 24, 1854 - Deed Book 55, pg492) by B.F. Stanfield. Benjamin F. Stanfield and wife, Phoebe had sold 136 1/2 acres previously to Abner. Benjamin Stanfield was the son of William Stanfield. Possible origin of the Lynnwood property per Edmonds: Land was willed to William Byrd, III by his father William Byrd, II. William Byrd, III died and his widow, Martha Willis Byrd sold 490 acres on February 17, 1774 to William Stanfield (Deed Book 9, pg 208). This land being on Lawson's Creek. April 25, 1795, (Deed Book 16, pg 362) William Stanfield's brother, Benjamin A. Stanfield bought 196 acres from Boswell Turner. On February 22, 1808, William Stanfield got 200 acres from Ranson Turner and 70 acres on Lawson's Creek from William Turner (Deed Book 21, 603, 604, 619). Deed Book 32 pg 326-327, July 26,1824 shows another; Benjamin Stanfield given a 200 acre tract by his father, William. Deed Book 41,pg 443 - April 1834 shows Benjamin bought 39 acres from Elam Bass. Deed Book 42, pg 401 shows Benjamin bought 62 acres from John T. Stanfield on Lawson's Creek.
Does anyone know of an Elizabeth BIRD who married George HOLMES in the early 1800's, in North Carolina probably. They lived in Knox Co., Tenn. from ca. 1825-1845 when she died. Thanks, Archie Holmes
Anne, I would like to buy your book's. How do you propose we handle this. I will call you if you wish. Danny Cooper Byrd
Hi, For several years I was on the wrong Bird line. I bought two volumes of THE JOSEPH HUNTER AND RELATED FAMILIES by Hunter and Moore. The books have three chapters devoted to the BIRD family. VIII Bird Family p. 159, IX Bird Family (continued) p. 182 and X The Byrd Family p. 203 to 229. Other related families are: Hunter, Beckwith, Medley, Phillips, Amos and Needham Sikes. It starts with WILLIAM BIRD born in England, died in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He had sons: William, Abraham & Andrew. John Ruddell, Seniors Will is also included. The line I thought was my husbands was Amos Bird of NC. This lineage is found in Chapter X. Vol. 2 gives family charts of this bird lineage. I bought both books for $40.00. I am willing to sell them for $25.00 which would include shipping and handling. If you have any questions, please ask. Lots of wills, pictures, maps, etc. Anne in CA.
Does anyone have any information on Hardy Bird. Don't have any kind of dates on him except he would have been having children around 1806, so I guess this puts him mid to late 1700's. He was probably in the Nash Co.,N.C. area. Contact me at angela@cocentral.com Thanks, Chris

In the 1850 census for Canton, Fulton Co, IL there is a Thomas Bird, age 65, born in NJ. He seems to be listed with children Elizabeth, age 27; Isaac, age 25; Anna, age 22; Samuel, age 21; and James, age 12. All but James were born in New Jersey. Does anyone know who Thomas' parents are, or what his wife's name was? Or even where in NJ he came from? He might be my missing Thomas Bird who was the grandson of Isaac Bird of Sussex CO, NJ. I am still trying to find the parents and/or siblings of My Burd she was Susanah aka Eliza. She was born 2-Apr-1827 (place unknown) I have seen her referred to as Susan also. and died 28-Aug-1892 at Putneyville PA. She married John Frederick Gearhart on 12 Apr 1846 at a place near Greensburg, Westmorland Co. PA. census info gives her name as Susanna: Clarion Twp., Clarion Co. PA just to the north of Armstrong Co. on the 1850 census. John F. Gearhart - 24 (b 1825) Susanna - 22 Mary E. - 3 Charles - 2 (my gr grandfather b 1848, May 1) John - 3/12(looking at the age of this child, I think it should be James Randolph he was born Feb 14, 1850) Thank you everyone, any clue at all would be appreciated. RE: This information is from the book called "The Ironmasters Kin, the genealogy of William and Mark Bird, 1621-1985" by Vera N. Hardin. This $8 book is still available at the Broad River Genealogy Society in North Carolina. Jim, THANK YOU SO MUCH for that information. I saw that book years ago in PA and have looked to buy one ever since with no avail! I will look for the address, contact the society and order one. Question- does the book explain the family relationships between William and any others? Does it mention any brothers? Karen in Michigan
