    3. Ken: I know of Birch blood which exists just on the Manitoba side of the US border. The area is Turtle Mountain. The people in question are descendants of Harriet (Hattie) Birch, a Barnardo Home Child. She and her older brother James (my maternal grandfather) arrived in Halifax in 1891, on James's 12th birthday. James was assigned to farmers in the Ottawa Valley; Hattie was sent to a rather good family situation in south Manitoba. She was later to marry a farmer named Robert Cummings and become the ancestor of many. My grandfather, James William Birch was born at Deptford-on-Thames, England on 4 April, 1879. His father was James Birch, a labourer and his mother was Emma Jane Monk (formerly Peck). James Birch (my great grandfather) was a son of Jessie Birch, a labourer and his mother was Caroline Timms. He was born on 28 Dec 1852 at Loampit Hill, Lewisham, U.K. Does any of the above ring a bell with any Birch researchers? I know of relations in Manitoba, Canada as they have visited us recently. Another branchline lived in Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway. A branch of these Moffat Birch's lived in a region across the border from Manitoba in the USA. The Canadian folks knew of their existence, but never got in touch. > Are you out there? > Ken > > ============================== > Search ALL of RootsWeb's mailing lists in real time. > RootsWeb's Personalized Mailing Lists: > http://pml.rootsweb.com/
