    2. Jean Bruce
    3. RICHARD BIRCH married ELIZABETH Birch (nee BOWEN). They were probably born in the early 1830's . They had a daughter, ELIZA HELEN BIRCH, b 12th July 1853. There may have been other siblings. On Eliza's Birth Certificate they gave their address as 'Irwell Terrace, Salford.' Richard's occupation is 'Law Clerk.' (On the birth certificate, the deputy registrar is 'Cornelius Tipple.' What a wonderful Dickensian name.) ELIZA HELEN ( 'Eliza Ellen' on the marriage certificate) BIRCH married JAMES SHAUNESSEY(b about 1854-55) on 29th Nov 1873 at St. Simon's Church (C of E) in Salford, though I think they were Roman Catholics, as their descendents all were. James was an 'upholsterer.' They both gave their birthplace as 'Salford.' Residence given at time of marriage as St. Simon Street, Salford. Their children were: James, (b about 1876) Richard, (b Jan 13 1877) Thomas Henry (b about 1879) Elizabeth, (b about 1882 ) Harry, (b about 1885) Edward,(b about 1888) Eliza E.(b about 1890) The spelling of 'Shaunessey' was also shown as 'Shaunessy' and later generations used the spelling 'Shaughnessy' When Richard was born they were living at 2 Byron Place, Byrom St. Manchester. In 1881, they were living at 1 James Place, Manchester. In 1891 they were living at 34, Mallow St, Hulme, Manchester. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful.
