Hi Birch researchers I am trying to find any info on a John Birch and Mary. I am not sure but think John married a Mary Wilkinson 1 Aug 1794 at Ellesmere, Shropshire, England. I was of the belief that Anne Birch who married John Bickley in 1818 Ellesmere parents were Edward Birch and Mary Dickin. My Cousin had returned from Shropshire and he believes Ann Birch's parents are John Birch and Mary. He found 3 Ann Birch's in Ellesmere 1. Born 22 Oct 1796 Bap 6 Jan 1797 daughter of Thomas Birch and Anne ? 2. Born 4 Dec 1796 Bap 19 May 1797 daughter of Edward Birch and Mary Dickin 3. Dear Amanda, I am curious that you think you may descend from a marriage between a Birch and a Wilkinson in Shropshire. I too am descended from such a marriage, in my case in neighbouring Cheshire. Is that too much of a coincidence? I am descended from the marriage of Ann Birch and Robert Wilkinson, both of Chester, who were married in Chester on 7 Feb 1952. Ann's father was Henry Birch of Chester, and Robert's father was Thomas Wilkinson of Chester. Robert was a carpenter/joiner/builder, Thomas Wilkinson was a banker's clerk, and Henry Birch was a glass dealer and sometime publican. I possess a Birch family sampler dated 1836 & jointly embroidered by Sarah Birch (age 10) and Mary Birch (8). Can you see any connection with your line? I too am researching my Birch family that came from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England in the late 1700's.
