I have a birth date for a John T. or F. Birch with the date of Jan 20, 1835 which I believe to be a birth date. This is the only information that I have on this person which I got from a scrap of paper. Wondering if he is related to anyone out there? Marie

They were separated abt. 1806 in PA, (after raising 7-8 children) and he took a common law wife, Maria Knox. Together they also had a large family of 8 or 9 boys & 1 girl. Dear Folk, As a new subscriber, may I inquire if any of you trace your ancestry as I do back to a humble family of Birches who lived in Chester in the mid-19thC. The farthest I have traced back so far is to my ggg-grandparents Henry & Sarah Birch, who were married in Chester ca 1828 and raised a family there. Henry was, successively, a servant, glass dealer, and licencee. One of their children, Ann Birch, was born in 1832, and in 1852 married a young local carpenter/joiner, one Robert Wilkinson. The young couple lived initially in Davies Court off Newgate St, where their first child Sarah Ann was born in 1852. This area has since been demolished as slums, in favour of a carparking building. Just the Newgate St pub remains. Sarah Ann, who was my great-grandmother was baptised at the local church of St John the Evangelist. As an adult she moved away from Chester and my branch of the family has thus lost connection with the town of our origins. In my home I have, framed and hanging in a low light, a Birch family sampler dated 1836 & jointly embroidered by Sarah Birch (age10) and Mary Birch (8). I am looking for family members...My Danish immigrant ancestor was Christian/Kristian PEDERSEN BIRK, who came to the U.S. (port of departure unknown) via New York in 1884 and settled in Nebraska. He was born 19 May 1863 in Ikastsogn, RingkøbingCounty, Denmark to Peder Christiansen/Kristiansen BIRK and Elisabeth PEDERSDATTER (1829-?). Peder CHRISTIANSEN (BIRK efternavn used then?) was born 6 June 1830 in Bording, Ringkøbing County to Christen CHRISTENSEN (BIRK?) and Anne Kirstine IVERSDATTER. He apparently had siblings named Christen Christensen and Johann Carl Christensen BIRK. Peder married Elisabeth on 19 November 1852 in Ikastsogn, Ringkøbing County. I have no death dates for either Peder or Elisabeth (other than that they died after Christian's birth in 1863). My Danish/American Christian also married a Danish girl, Hansine Johanne PEDERSEN from (Saksild Parish?) Aårhus County (they were both in their early teens when they emigrated and possibly met on the ship. He is the son of George Wallace Birch and Susan Katherine Payne (Pain). Born in Washoe, Nevada. I am his grandson and lived in home from 1928 to 1941. His stories and his life still live in my memory. He has a brother George Washington Birch (1850-1928) and a cousin George Washington Birch (1874-1941). Ellis Island is free access. The ONLY portion you pay for is to get photocopies of manifests from there. Most of time LOUSY. Can get better quality copy for less than what Ellis Island organization charge for through Family History Center.
