Hello, I am writing a semi-long email regarding several connecting family lines that has information pertinent to each of the lines by virtue of the numerous times that most of them connect in the early 1600's as well as earlier and later over the centuries. One thing that I am searching for is the surname/last name of Mrs. Alice ? PIERCE BENNETT who was the widow of husband # 1: Thomas PIERCE and husband # 2: Thomas BENNETT. Recently I found reference to the possibility that Alice's maiden name might be either REYNOLDS or PHILLIPS but can't remember which nor where I saw that but due to the information I have that one of her sons names was Phillips BENNETT it seems quite feasible that PHILLIPS was, indeed, her maiden name. Does anyone have any information regarding that? I descend once, at least, and, possibly, twice from Thomas BENNETT and Mrs. Alice ? PIERCE BENNETT, widow of Thomas PIERCE who married Thomas BENNETT as her 2nd husband. My first line of descent from them is via their son, Richard BENNETT, Sr. and 2nd wife, Sarah LANCASTER, > Richard BENNETT, Jr. and his wife, Anne ?, and daughter, Ann BENNETT, and husband, John BELL, Jr. and on. And the second line of descent appears to be through Thomas BENNETT and Mrs. Alice ? PIERCE BENNETT's son, John BENNETT, born: 1624, who appears to be the father of my 6th great grandmother, Phillis BENNETT, who married Samuel EARLE, II and my descent continues through their son, (Major) Samuel EARLE, III, born: 1692 in Westmoreland Co., VA, and his much younger 2nd wife, Elizabeth HOLBROOK, born: abt. 1733, and their son, 2nd son of Samuel, III to be named Samuel, IV, who was Samuel EARLE, IV, born: 1760 in Fauquier Co., VA who married Tabitha WILLIAMS. I have been trying to find information regarding the possibility of whether or not my 6th great grandmother and daughter of John BENNETT who was Phillis BENNETT might possibly be the daughter of either of the women shown in information that I have as the first two wives of John BENNETT who are said to be Mary BERRY and a woman that may be a sister or cousin of Mary BERRY who was the 2nd wife, Mrs. Elizabeth BERRY (KNOTT,) widow of ? KNOTT. At this time it is still speculation that my the John BENNETT who was the son of Thomas BENNETT and Mrs. Alice ? PIERCE BENNETT is the same John BENNETT who married as his 3rd wife the Mattilda ALLERTON who was the 2nd wife of her 1st husband, Samuel EARLE, I, my 7th great grandfather, whose 1st wife and my 7th great grandmother was Bridget HALE. Samuel EARLE, I and Bridget HALE's son, Samuel EARLE, II married Phillis BENNETT who appears to be the daughter of the John BENNETT who was the 2nd husband of her husband's step-mother.
