I have been to the embassy and the Police here but they're not helping issues at all and our flight leaves pretty soon from now but we're having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills. Please be so kind to reply back so I can tell you what to do and how to get some cash to us. 3. Howard, Lawson and Jessie (Conner) Bigham were witnesses at the wedding of my grandparents, Clealon and Tora (Wright) Bigham. I have often wondered if they knew how they were related. As you have stated, Lawson and Jessie are buried in the Old Woodbury Cemetery in Hill Co., TX. Lawson's mother and father, William L. and Laura are also buried in the Old Woodbury Cemetery in a plot adjacent to that of Lawson and Jessie. I have photos of the headstones if you would like to have them. William L. (Lawson) Bigham (1848-1924) was a veteran of the CSA army in Mississippi. He was born in Tennessee and was the son of Lawson H. Bigham (1822-1879). I believe Lawson H. was the son of William (1790-1866) and Jane Bigham and was probably born in North Carolina. I think William was the son of William Bigham Jr. (1756-1842) and the grandson of William Bigham Sr. (1715-1798). 2. Howard, I think he might have lived in Johnson CO MO before moving to TX. I don't have the Johnson CO list of Bighams there any more. But, if you look up the census you might find him. teresa ____________________________________________________________ Fast, Secure, NetZero 4G Mobile Broadband. 3. Dear Mr. Brad, Thank you for your message, but I'm not sure I know exactly what message from me you are answering. I don't think I know you, and although alzheimers is always a good excuse, I don't think it will work in this case. How did you get a message from me ? I'm guessing that your question is about my Bigham line which descends from James Bigham who arrived in Charleston SC in 1772. His son and grandson went to southern Illinois in about 1830 and my line descends from them.  My parents went to northern Illinois in 1940 and I came to Québec in 1974. My son was born here. Thank you for any help you can provide. Have a nice day. 1. [BIGHAM] Obituary of Emmanual Bingham/Bigham
    2. Carol Bogue
    3. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Blair County, Pennsylvania 20 May 1886: Recent Deaths Names of Persons Who Have Joined the Invisible Hosts In the death of Mr. E.M.Bingham, which occurred at his residence No. 1514 Thirteenth street, shortly after 2 o'clock Thursday morning, Altoona has lost one of its most respected citizens, and one who for many years was a resident of it. His death was not unexpected, as he had for many months been a sufferer of kidney troubles and it was this disease which finally caused him to be gathered to his fathers, like a sheaf of ripe wheat garnered by the husbandman. He had attained the ripe old age of 78 years, 2 months and 26 days - having thus passed the three score and ten which is alotted to each man, and when death finally came to summon him from this world to the better one beyond the skies, he was ready to go. Mr. Bigham was born in Adams county, Pa., March 17, 1807. His father was also a native of the same county, while his mother was born and rased in Maryland. His grandfather, who was a school teacher, was a native of Ireland, having been born in Dublin. The subject of this notice was the eldest of eight children - four sons and four daughters. His brothers are still living and are James, John, Joseph and Jacob. James resides in Vermillion county, Ill; Jacob, in Michigan; Joseph, in Dark county, Ohio. His sisters are all dead. Having learned the trade of carpenter, Mr. Bigham followed it for the greater portion of his life as a contractor and builder. On the 2d of May, 1830, he was united in marriage to Miss Amelia T. Christy at Newry, the officiating clergyman being Rev. Father Thomas Heydan, who was afterward a resident of Bedford. After a happy married life, extending over forty-five years, his wife was taken from him by death on the 6th of June, 1885. To them were born eleven children, eight of whom survive their beloved parents. These are: Rev. J.C.Bgham. of New Brighton, Pa; Dr. A.W. Bigham, of Indiana; H.S.Bigham, of Indianapolis; A.C. Bigham, with the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie road; A.G. Bigham, with the Pennsylvania railroad in Philadelphia;James and Alphonsus Bigham and Mrs Mary E. Conrad, of Altoona. After his marriage Mr. Bigham resided in Newry for five years, removing from there to Hollidaysburg, which place he made his home for twenty-five years, coming to Altoona in 1860.

    3. Lynn, Our late cousin Esther Bigham was a descendant of the Bigham family that was in Mecklenburg County, NC at the time of the Revolution. This family originated in County Down, Ulster and immigrated to the PA Colony c.1736. She worked in the era before the internet and emails and passed way in the 1970s, I think. She used the mail to contact persons with a Bigham surname. She and her husband spent many years traveling around the country visiting these Bighams, county court houses , etc. gathering information about those with Bigham and Bingham surnames. After her death, her husband passed all her work on to the Mormon Church. It has all been microfilmed and is available for loan to local Family Research Centers on request. When I researched her data, I found it occupied 7 full reels of 35mm film. It is quite a resource. We should all be thankful for the work she did over those many years!
