I have a letter from my great grandfather stating that our William Biggs came to America as a British soldier; defected and stayed saying "by God this country is good enough for me". The letter continues saying that he lived on the Monocacy river in Frederick COunty, MD. There were lots of Biggs in that area but I can't connect to them. I have found him in Monongalia County, VA in 1773 through land grant and he died there in 1806. Hope this is helpful.
