    1. [BIGGS] Rachel Bowser?
    2. Steve and Patricia Campbell
    3. Hi All! Summer cooking up out there!! My name is Steve Campbell. . Have you ever come across a RACHEL BOWSER(BOUSER) in you searching?? She is one of my Mystery Women!! From family records she was born "IN PA",October 27, 1821. She next shows up in Dubuque, Iowa marrying ANSON BIGGS, in 1853, I have a copy of the Marriage license. Name spelled BOUSER, on the license. On the 1860 Iowa census she is living in Rockford, Iowa, age "35". On the 1870 Iowa census she is " " age 43. On the 1880 Iowa Census she is " " age 57. I did find a Rachel Bowser on the PA. 1850 census living in Bedford Twp, PA, age is 25, living with the GEORGE SHUCK? household. This one and the 1860 census are the only two where her age actually matches, so I am "assuming"!! this is my Rachel. Any idea, on where to find her parents? etc?? I have a copy of the Bowser Family History. NONE of the Rachel's listed in the book match my Rachel. I was at the Historical center in Bedford, PA, and found NOTHING!! on a Rachel. I have checked at the State records, and of course NO death Certificate. She died June 12, 1892, in Rockford, Iowa. Anyway, if you ever hear of a Rachel, keep me in mind. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. Bye for now, Steve and Tricia

Surnames: BIGGS Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WCE.2ACIB/1020 Message Board Post: "The Kansas City Post" (Missouri) Friday, September 1, 1922 MURDERS FOLLOW KIDNAPPING BY SEVEN BANDITS Victims Shot Down in Gun Battle After Dairy Driver and Son are Robbed and Beaten in Holdup. Gangsters Open Fire on Officers After Robbing Tire Store Two Kansas City, Kas., policemen were murdered by bandits shortly after 3 o'clock this morning. They were Sergeant Elmer BIGGS, 61 years old, 20 years on the department, and Patrolman Fred WHEELER, 35 years old, BIGGS' partner on the night patrol. The murder of the two policemen occurred at Ninth street and Ruby drive, and followed the kidnapping of two men by the bandits. While BIGGS was killed instantly, shot through the mouth and head, WHEELER lived long enough to whisper a disconnected story of what occurred. WHEELER was shot through the stomach, shoulder, right breast and the calf of the leg. His revolver, every chamber fired, lay beside him when he was found. BIGGS clutched his weapon, from which five shots had been fired. BIGGS was married, the father of two grown sons and two daughters. He had been on the police department 20 years. He lived at 1330 Yecker avenue. WHEELER, who had been on the police department only four months, lived with his mother, Mrs. Auguste WHEELER, 1030 Ridge avenue. NOTE: the above are excerpts from a long article about the murder. It includes pictures of both policemen. Contact me direct if you want more details.
