It was published in 1933 THE COLLEGE PRESS, Mt. Vernon, Ohio. I am not certain when I aquired the booklet. I was a teacher, interested in history, now retired. I know it was within the Williamette Valley in Oregon, as that is where my mother and father have their businesses. I would very much like to see you have this copy. My E-mail is: jaguar@olypen.com. She was christened Cora Biggs, and born at Buzzard's Roost (!)Texas, probably, as you say, in 1903. My grandmother, Lillie Anne Walton later married David Cromwell Oliver and my Mother, Hannah Towne Oliver was born in 1908. After leaving Texas, Cora (Corinne all her life), may have stayed with the Olivers in Iowa, but she never mentioned it. I believe that she was in New Orleans about 1917, and there met and married Robert Piozzi or Piozzo. It was then, when they joined lillie and Hannah in Los Angeles, that she and her husband changed their names to Robert and Corinne Cromwell. Robert developed Glo-Co hair tonic at the same time as Vitalis was introduced. He made an immense amount of money and built a mansion in BelAire, California. Corinne was a great beauty, and I have pictures of her from 1910 onwards. The Cromwells had a son, Robert H. Cromwell, Jr who lives on Lido Isle, in Newport Beach. Robert Cromwell, Sr was int! erned at the Santa Thomas prison camp in the Phillipines in WWII, and eventually came home to California, and he and Corinne were divorced about 1946. My aunt Corinne was loved by her friends and family fror her good humor, high style and remembered for her splendid dinner parties, crackerjack bridge and poker. Unfortunately, both my Grandmother Lillie Ann Woods and Corinne died slowly after long years of suffering from Alzheimers. Corinne died, I think, about 1985. Lillie did not drop from sight, as her parents corresponded with her until they left Runge, Texas to visit Clifornia, and then exchange visits were almost annual. David Cromwell Oliver either died in the 19-teens or they were divorced. Either David was a suicide about then, on not until 1928, data unreliable. Lillie married Hiram Simpson Walton in 1920. Hi called Lillie Anne 'Betty,' and the name stuck from then on. She became a Lifetime Grand Master in bridge as Betty Walton and lived until 198x. As I was born in 1928, I knew both Corinne and Lillie Anne very well. They both had sweet dispositions and I miss them.

Notice Asa is listed as a >female named "Asia" in 1870.] Sarah was 10 in 1860 - not 1870 - and thus born around 1850 rather than 1860, when Samuel was born. "SALLY WATSON" BIGGS Various web sites show "Sally Watson" as the name of the first wife of Reuben Biggs (b 1775) of Martin & Beaufort Cos NC and Stewart & Gibson Cos TN. I claim this couple as my great-great-great-grandparents, and want again to alert all of their descendants to the likelihood that Sally was born a Williams and not a Watson. Documentation proves that "Sally" was her first name, but I have found no substantiation for the statement in Hale & Merritt's 1913 "History of Tennessee and Tennesseans" that "the maiden name of [Reuben's] first wife was Watson, who was the mother of all his children..." The name first appears as "Sally Watson" in "A Family History and List of Descendants of Cornelius Anderson and Mary (Scott) Anderson, with a genealogy of the Biggs Family". Reuben's wife has not been found as "Sally Watson" in any earlier record. This name is a "composite" - the first name coming from original records and the surname from the Hale & Merritt book. The informant for the articles on Reuben Biggs and his son Luke in the Hale & Merritt book appears to have been either Luke's son Dr. Zach Biggs or one of Zach's children. Apparently the writer of the articles was given the wrong maiden name for Mrs. Reuben Biggs or he applied it to the wrong branch of Zach's family. In his Civil War questionnaire Zach stated that Watson was the maiden name of his MATERNAL grandmother (mother of Luke's wife, Marina Bennett). Sally was Zach's PATERNAL grandmother. Sally is sometimes found in queries as "Sally/Matilda Watson" or "Sally Matilda Watson". This ostensibly comes from the Cornelius Anderson booklet mentioned above, which gives Sally's last name as Watson and Reuben's second wife's name on the 1850 census as Matilda. Hale & Merritt refer to Reuben's "first wife". The Matilda (b ca 1783 NC) who is listed with Reuben in the Gibson Co TN 1850 census is undoubtedly another wife. Sally, judging from the 1820 census, was born in 1775 or earlier. In his 1796 will in Beaufort Co NC, Thomas Williams mentions Reuben and Sally Biggs. Although the will does not specifically state Sally's relationship to Thomas, she is apparently his granddaughter, being bequeathed an equal share with the grandchildren he names. (See will below.) Sally being a nickname for Sarah, she was possibly the Sarah Williams named as a daughter in the 1792 Beaufort County will of James Williams, son of Thomas. Sally's first son was named James Biggs. He is probably the James W. Biggs listed next to Reuben in the 1820 census of Stewart Co TN. Drucilla (Biggs) Anderson, who circumstantial evidence indicates was one of three daughters born to Reuben and Sally, named her first son Cornelius Williams Anderson.
