Last night I was speaking at the Temple and when I came out there were signs on Santa Monica Blvd. to state it would be closed on Sunday for the LA Marathon.  That portion of Santa Monica Blvd. will be about mile 18 of the marathon so it will be closed during a good part of our meeting and access will be near impossible (I know from experience as I used to live near the route).  So, I am canceling our meeting.  Please get this word out asap.  We will meet in April.

British Isles Family History Society- USA will meet Sunday, February 24 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Family Search Library, 1631 East Temple Way, Los Angeles, CA.  The library will be open for research. Meeting at 1:00 pm: Continuing the journey...  Last month, according to our bylaws, we voted to join the Southern California Genealogical Society as an Interest Group.  The vote was unanimous of those attending the meeting.  We will continue to work on membership and treasury to transfer over to SCGS.  We must meet 4 times a year at the SCGS library in Burbank, CA and our topic will be deciding our new meeting schedule (which can remain the 4th Sunday).  Please share your ideas.

This is a closed group for anything British Isles related- no politics, no spam (hopefully but we can get rid of it).     2. Don't forget- we have a special event off our regular cycle this month. Saturday, May 20 we meet outside the history department at 1:30 pm to learn about the British Isles resources at the LA Public Library from Julie Huffman (LAPL librarian). You have the opportunity to also research Saturday or attend an additional FREE session with Colleen Fitzpatrick (in the Taper Auditorium on Level 1 of the Central Library) on Forensic Genealogy from 11:00- 12:30pm. The Central Library is located at 630 W. 5th St., Los Angeles. Parking is discounted at the library with your library card validation.     2. Most of us in southern CA were smart today and stayed out of the rain and stayed safe. The planned program for today will be our February program instead.
