Charles, who passed into the glory of God June 13, 1967, has joined her husband into eternal life February 8, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Sanctuary. Ruth was born April 30, 1920, as Dorothea Elisabeth Ruth Biber in Elsey/Hohenlimburg, Germany. Of all of her additional seven siblings, she remained the last. She met her husband, James T. Charles, a serviceman in the United States Army during the occupation of Germany while working as a secretary in Erding, Bavaria, in southern Germany. They were married in Toronto, Canada, November 8, 1952, and were stationed in San Antonio, Texas at Kelly Air Force Base. In 1955, the couple was transferred to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls where they remained. During a 1959 trip to visit Ruth's relatives in Germany, the couple decided to adopt a child, whose name and sole survivors is James T. Charles II. Shortly thereafter the couple became members of First Baptist Church and were both baptized jointly by Dr. Landes, pastor at the time. Soon after, Ruth secured employment with Leeway/Sooner Motor Freight as Secretary/Bookkeeper for a period of time until her husband died in 1967. Thereafter, Ruth decided to enter the Real Estate business, where through coursework at Midwestern University in order to fulfill her requirements for licensure to sell real estate in Texas. She took her examination in Houston while Roger Staubach of Dallas Cowboys fame was in the same examination group and passed. She worked for H.L. Goldstuker. After this experience of attending Midwestern University, she felt the desire to complete her undergraduate education, and after only three and one half years, while at the time being the oldest female student, finished her degree with a double major of German/Sociology and a minor in history in 1976. Her objectives were to either teach or go into the mission field. However, health considerations were not to affect her missionary goals. She then went into real estate sales again with Mike and Steve Rhone, at which time the tornado of 1979 devastated Wichita Falls. She then secured employment with the U.S. Small Business Administration as a documents examiner and contributed to aiding numerous families locally reestablish their lives. Thereafter, through numerous subsequent assignments nationwide, Ruth returned to Wichita Falls, where she was active in the choir and Sunday school programs of First Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Roy Fish, Dr. Bill Pinson. While in the early years of Dr. Morris Chapman, Ruth suffered a series of strokes, which affected any further participation in activities she loved the most in the church. She additionally was a substitute teacher in the Wichita Falls School District, as she had also achieved her credentials as a certified teacher. Shortly thereafter, she was unable to pursue any further work or teaching activities as her health became compromised. Thereafter, with the help of her son James, she continued to endure through many physical hardships and was unable to continue with any further activities of her love and enjoyment. Only recently, she learned of a terminal form of brain cancer, and endured as she would always do, unto the end. She wishes to all of those people that she could not communicate with over the past several years her apologies. She further wished that any memorials or contributions would be made to either the First Baptist Church Library and/or the Department of History/Sociology by way of Dr. Robert Clark or Dr. Hendrickson. Ruth was a vigorous lady of incredible energy and thanks all of those who were her friends over the course of her life in Wichita Falls. As an addendum, of special note, Ronnie Lyon, as an adoptee post latent, was and has been of special help to Ruth during her past several years of health crisis.

Hi, I'm trying to link my Beaver line to the Bieber surname; however, I can't seem to make the connection. My great great grandfather was John Beaver and I think his father was John Jacob Beaver. I think John Jacob's father was Dietrich Bieber and I think his mother was Elizabeth Kieffer. This is all supposition on my part since I can't positively connect these people. My John Beaver was born in Rostraver Township in Westmoreland County, PA. He was born 5/21/1803 and married Susannah Meyers and then Leah Spayd. He died in 1879 and was buried in Cain Cemetery in Brown County, IN. Does anyone on this list have any information that might help me with a Bieber/Beaver connection. Thanks...
