I think he was adopted or just "too on" the Bibby name. His parents were listed as George Adams and Elizabeth Wilson on his marr. cert. His name on the ship's list was George Bibbie, his family in the U.S, including my grandfather, spelled it Bibby. thanks so much. I have been trying to solve this for a long time.
