Hi all fellow Bibby researchers, Having just joined the list, I would like to introduce myself. I am Francis John Bibby, but like most of the Bibbys in my part of the family tree I am known by my second name, John. I currently live in Wolverhampton, in the English midlands, but my line of Bibbys originally comes from Over Wyresdale in Lancashire. It starts with a John Bibby, born in 1630, and christened in Lancaster. There are many different lines of Bibbys descended from this John. The most prominent is the one that founded the firm of J. Bibby and Sons Ltd, of Liverpool, and is the subject of the book “The Bibbys of Conder Mill”. There is a large family of descendants in New Zealand, and at least two others in Canada. The only line I know of in the US is that descended from Joseph Bibby and his wife Margaret Swarbrick, who settled in Charleston WV in 1832. I am at present trying to link up the Thomas Bibby who emigrated to Wisconsin in the mid 1800’s – it looks promising but I have not got enough proof yet.
