My great grandfather was Edward Henry Bibby. He was one of 10 children born to Richard George Bibby and caroline Bibby(nee Swinden. One of those children was an Alexander Bibby(Edward's brother. I know that Alexander was born in 1850 as he appears on the 1851 census aged 11 months. Although I do not have a date for the wedding I know that Alexander married Sophia Jane Sherlock(she was born in 1853. Their frist child, Richard Alfred Bibby was christened on the 12th May, 1873 at Liverpool, St. Peter. On the 12th December, 1880 Alexander, Caroline and Sophia Bibby were christened at St. John the baptist. They were living at Steble Grove at the time. The census for 1881 for 10 Steble Grove gives the following details: Alexander Bibby, age 31, head, cab owner Sophia J. Bibby, age 29, wife Richard A. Bibby, son, age 8 Alexander Bibby, son, age 6 Caroline Bibby, daughter, age 4 Sophia Bibby, daughter , age 2 Thomas Sherlock, father in law, age 68, book keeper Alexander Sherlock, son age 24, bootmaker They were all born in Liverpool On the 8th October, 1882 Edith Bibby was christened at St. John the baptist. Does any of the above help you to confirm that this is your family? If it is I would be grateful for any info you have relating to them in England and after they emigrated. If you are sure that we share the same family background I have traced my branch back to Wales in 1753. He married my grandmother, Marie Schau in New Jersey and raised 4 children with Marie: William Bibby, Alexander Albert Bibby, Jr (my father) and Dorothy Bibby and Elizabeth (BETTY). My grandfather owned a restaurant (Bibby's Coach and Four, in Cranford, NJ and Coach and Hourses, in Elizabeth, NJ). He had 8 or 9 siblings, one of them being Christieny Bibby and another being Alfred. I'm trying to find information about my grandfather and siblings. I know one of his siblings emigrated to Ontario, Canada. My grandfather worked on a ship at the age of 13 but I don't know the name of the shipping company. An additional bit of information. I'm pretty sure my grandfathers parents were: Alexander Bibby and Christieny Roger Richards. His grandparents were: Alexander Bibby and Sophia Sherlock. This is yet to be confirmed. Clarence, Do you think that Thomas (black Tom) lived in the Pottersville, NY area? If so, his wife was Ann and his children were Samuel, John, Elias, Benjamin and Robert. How are you related to them?
Our g grandfather came from Kirkby, Lancastershire County, England in 1844 with his wife Eleanor Blackburn and his two sons, Miles born in 1841 and John born in1843 also his brother William and his wife Margaret Blackburn. They settled in Winnebago County, WI and Portage County, WI. We also know that they had a sister, Fannie, who married a man by the surname of Penny. The Bibby's had a shipbuilding line in England. There might have been other children that we are unaware of. Any info on these Bibby's would be appreciated. Please.

There are some genealogies of the Bibby families of Wisconsin on this website: http://www.rootsweb.com/~witrempe/genealogies/genealogies.htm From the first names that these families used it is clear that they are related to the Bibbys of Wyresdale, Lancashire. However they were living in Scotland before emigrating to America in the 1850s, so it is difficult to prove the exact connection. If anyone has any further information it will be greatly appreciated. John
Would like any information on an Elizabeth Bibby (Bebe),b. abt. 1650, possibly daughter of a John Bebe. who married Richard Bush. Any information regarding the Bibby or Bush families would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sue

This Joseph Bibby from Coosa must be Josephus B. Bibby...he was hospitalized with Chronic Bronchitis. He would not have received a pension from Texas because he died 1882, and his widow married again in 1885, and died 1896. It is generally accepted that J. B. Bibby died of Bronchial Pneumonia. The family story is that he was in Hamilton TX (county or city?), and became ill; word was sent to his wife that he was critical....and she rode by horseback to Hamilton where he was, but by the time she arrived there, he was dead. He was buried in the New York Cemetery, Henderson Co, TX. His grave is marked by a tombstone.... I wonder if perhaps the story is true, except for the name of the county being Henderson rather than Hamilton??? ================ James Hardy Bibby, whose widow was Hester, was the son of Moses Bibby; this would make him a first cousin of John, Jason & Joseph[us], who went to Smith Co.TX. ================= Doris....A Texan in Georgia; Still shaking the family tree, and dodging the nuts after 35+years! <Member IBSSG> > -----Original Message----- > From: Nitapearce@cs.com [mailto:Nitapearce@cs.com] > Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2001 2:18 PM > To: BIBBY-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Mississippi Pensions etc > > > 1898 Confederate Pensioners > Itawamba County, Mississippi > > N.C. Hi Nita and all Bibbys, This would be Edward Bibby, the brother of James Bibby of Conder Mill, who founded the firm of J Bibby & Sons. Edward first emigrated to NZ in 1852, returning in 1861 to find a wife.According to "The Bibbys of Conder Mill" it was in 1895 that Edward paid another visit to England, but this could well be out by a year. But he came over with his wife, so why was she not on the boat?
