He married Edith M Finch in 1915 in Portsmouth and their children were Alan, William and Brian. He served in the Royal Navy during the 1st WW, probably based at Portsmouth, but also maintained a house at Barrow-in-Furness, then in Lancashire. I can find no records since he left the navy. The area known as Goose Green is on the edge of the town of Wigan, formerly in Lancashire. It is close to the villages of Pemberton and Winstanley, where there have been Bibbys for hundreds of years. Do you know when your ancestors emigrated to America? It may be possible to find them on British censuses before they went. Incidentally my Bibbys come from much further north in Lancashire, not related to those in the Wigan area as far as I know. Hope this helps John Bibby, Wolverhampton, England

    2. Sorry can't help. My BIBBY's seem to have started in Gloucestershire and were miners. They moved to South Wales at mid 19th Century, presumably following their trade. Names were John Alfred BIBEY. Note the name change. My grandfather was BIBEY at birth but all of his children were BIBBY. Brian Coxon

Bibby born March 3, 1906, scribbled his family history on a sheet of paper. He lists his father as Thomas Bibby, born March 19, 1857. He lists his grandfather as Tom Bibby, birth date unknown, who married Susana Boardman, birth date unknown. On the back of the paper he wrote "Lankeshire England" (I believe should be Lanceshire) and below that "Goosegreen". I live in Bloomfield, IA in the U.S. Any information would be helpful!

    3. Catherine - I am also descended from Barbara Bush and John Bomar - via their son, Bibby. I was really hoping for some info upstream or even more info about their families (siblings, stories, history etc). I understand the Bibby family is pretty extensive, and wonder if it is known how we fit into it. The Bushes have been a mystery to me as well, but I was told that Abraham was as far as anyone could ever get. Judging from some of the archived postings, more than a few of us share this pair of ancestors. Any ideas how many are still working these lines? - Stephen _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. 1. [BIBBY] Can anyone help me on the name of Annie Bibbie?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bibbie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CkD.2ACEB/106 Message Board Post: Can anyone help me? I am the great granddaughter of Annie Bibbie and Robert Turner Wray. I know they had at least 4 sons. According to what my mother told me. My grandfather always said that he was just a child when she passed away; Coy was just an infant when she passed away and that he basically helped his father raise Coy, and that she was really young (possibly in the mid to late 20’s) when she died. He also said I know Coy is the youngest of all of the children. I am estimating that she died sometime around the mid to late 20’s while in her 20’s. Their son’s names are: David Walker Wray – has been married twice Coy T. Wray – married once that I am aware of Everett Wray – married at least once also Lacy F. Wray – married once that I am aware of On David’s death certificate it states her name as being Annie Bibbie. On Coy’s marriage certificate it states her name as being Annie Sue Wray (her married name). Also according to Coy’s marriage certificate, he was 29 in 1955. So that puts him at being born sometime around 1926. I realize that I may have the spelling of her name incorrect due to it being on my grandfather’s death certificate. But so far that is the only trace that I have been able to find of her besides knowing that she is buried in Clear Springs, North Carolina beside my grandfather. If anyone can possibly shed some light on Annie Bibbie, I would greatly appreciate it. You can email me at MysticAngel@starfishnet.com. Sincerely, Claudia Harvey

There must be some nice spicy scandal there! I had always assumed that they simply returned to England because they did not get used to living in the States. It will be interesting to hear the details of your side of the family. You direct descent from the Bibbys of Wyresdale is: Robert Bibby and Mary Winder John Bibby 1630 - ? m: 1654 Ann Slater John Bibby 1656-1729 m: Dorothy .....- 1686 John Bibby 1684-1739 m: 1716 Margaret Townley ?-1767 Thomas Bibby 1730-1799 m: 1764 Anne Robinson 1742-1793 Richard Bibby 1770-1845 m: 1792 Susannah Barnes ?-1844 Joshua Bibby 1809-1872 m: 1838 Elizabeth Wade George Bibby 1839-1911 m: 1862 Abigail Briggs 1839-? Alan Bibby To give you the details of all the side branches (about 3000 people!), the easiest way is to send you a “Gedcom” file. Do you have a genealogy program that would read one? John Bibby

The Bibbys of Accrington and Radcliffe are a branch of the Bibbys of Wyresdale, as is my branch. I know there is a connection to the firm of Bibby and Baron, the paper bag makers, but I don’t know exactly how. I have no details of your father Alan other than his name. His father was William, as you know, who was born 1 Feb 1900 in Providence RI. And died in Radcliffe, the date I don’t yet know. William married Lizzie Mitchell, born 4 Oct 1902. William’s father was Joshua, born 1865 in Crawshawbooth and also died in Radcliffe. This Joshua’s wife was Caroline; they had 7 children, the 1st and last born in Lancashire, the others in Rhode Island where the family lived between about 1894 and 1902. The Joshua who married Jenny Simpson was 100 years earlier, and distantly related. I have the line going back to 1630, so we can exchange information to fill in the gaps. Incidentally, I received most of this information from Jane Andreychuck who I beleive is your niece. Bye for now John Bibby Wolverhampton, England
