Joshua Bibby (son of George) was born in 1866 Crawshawbooth, Lancashire, England. He married Caroline Jenny Morley who was born Aug 8 1867 in Leyland, Lancashire, England. On Carolines' birth cert her parents are listed as Thomas Morley (Cowman) born 1834 and Jane Morley (formerly Blezard)born 1834. Thomas Morley died in March 1879, Bury. They had at least 8 children. Mary J Morley 1861 Clitheroe, Lancs Alice E Morley 1863 Mitton, Yorks William Broyden Morley 1865 Mitton, Yorks Thomas L Morley 1866 Leyland, Lancs Caroline Jenny Morley Aug 8 1867 Leyland Lancs Clarey H Morley 1869 Leyland Lancs Richard C Morley 1871 Leyland Lancs George Herbert Morley 1876 Clitheroe Lancs Caroline (Jenny -she went by Jenny not Caroline) married Joshua Bibby in 1889 in Haslingden Lancs. They had 3 children: Victoria Bibby 1887 Accrington Lancs N.K. Bibby 1891 Accrington Lancs Bertha Bibby 1892 They they moved to Rhode Island and arrived in the usa on Aug 14 1893. The only child they brought with them was Bertha. Presumably because she was an infant. The other two were left behind. Victoria was sent to her aunts and uncles. Harriet, John, Lily and Thomas Mangham. I do not know how these people fit, but Victoria stayed in Accrington with them. I cannot find any information regarding N.K. so I do not know what happened to her. Joshua and Caroline then had: George on Aug 12 1894 in Providence Rhode Island. Richard July 4 1896 William Feb 1 1900 Charles I have been unsuccessful in finding any birth records for any of them either in the USA or England. I know it is believed they were born on Rhode Island, but I have not been able to find any documentation except for George. Carolines father Thomas' parents were George Morley born 1806 and Jane ? born 1806. They had the following children: Alice Morley 1827 Grindleton, Yorks William Morley 1829 Grindleton, Yorks Ann Morley 1832 Grindleton, Yorks Thomas Morley 1834 Grindleton, Yorks John Morley 1836 Grindleton, Yorks George Morley 1840 Grindleton, Yorks Carolines grandmother from her mothers side was Elizabeth. She had the following children: Thomas Blezard 1832 John Blezard 1833 Jane Blezard 1834 George Blezard 1836 Elizabeth Blezard 1840 I do not know Carolines grandmothers maiden name or who her husband was. Cheers Jane

RootsWeb is in the process of switching over to new upgraded list management software. For list subscribers, the changeover should be smooth. The changes primarily involve the administration tools that keep the list running behind the scenes. The list name is changing from BIBBY-L to just BIBBY. So you may subscribe or unsubscribe by sending your request to: BIBBY-request@rootsweb.com with one exception. If you wish to subscribe in Digest mode you must send your subscribe request to BIBBY-D-request@rootsweb.com . You may also continue sending your requests as you always have--either will work. The word SUBSCRIBE or UNSUBSCRIBE must be included in the subject and may also be included in the message body. Digest subscribers will notice some changes to the list digests. New instructions will be added to the digests -- please read them. In addition, the digest volume and issue number may be different (out of sequence) from what you had been receiving. If your digests arrive in a different format than you are used to and you would like it changed, contact me privately at the list admin address: BIBBY-admin@rootsweb.com. Also, if you run into any unusual or confusing occurrences with mail from this list that could possibly be related to the changeover, let me know. If you use email headers to filter list mail to a special folder in your email program you may need to check whether your filters will need tweaking under the test system. If you previously subscribed to the list in both L and D modes using the same email address you will find that you are no longer subbed in Digest mode. The new software doesn't permit the same address to be subbed in both L and D modes. Therefore, if you wish to receive both modes, you will need to subscribe to the digests using a different email address. Please continue to send your queries, data, and responses to the list as usual. It is a great time to post a new query to try to break down those brick walls. Thanks! Karen, List Admin

I'm sure there are many in the Lewis family that would like to attend. Would it be possible to get the information to me? Thanks, Tonia

I am the granddaughter of William Bibby, my mother is Jessie Bibby Durst. I am the person who researched and compiled the Bibby Clan booklet for the Bibby Reunion. I have not been able to find out anything since that time on our ancestor's, George Bibby, family in Scotland. Thanks for the reponse, it is good to know the book is being saved in the families, it took a long time to gather the info. and by this time it should be up-dated as most of the then older folks are deceased and new members have been born into it. Good to hear from a distant cousin. Trish
How early does the Bibby book go, date? Cacky

I can try to provide you with information from this booklet if you have not already used it as a resource. Tonia

They were married in Scotland in 1862, one son returned from Pa. to Scotland where he lived and died under the name of George Adams. The rest of the sons of George Bibby used the name of adams as their middle name and Bibby as their sur-name. One daughter of George Adams lived in Boston, Mass., was married to Neil McLauglin. Would really appreciate any contact, ideas, etc. on this family research, I have been up against a wall for many years on it. Thanks to all who reply.
Cheers John, although I think this must be too late as his wife remarried in 1831 - unless of course, there was a divorce! It is definately a thought and I may well have to do that.
