She died Dec. 12, 1901 and is buried in Jones Cem., Delaware County, Ind. According to the 1880 census her father was born in NJ. The only Besser listed in the 1870 census is Christian Besser born 1824 in NJ. I think Christian in Charlotte's father but I have no proof at this time. The only other Bessers I have found in Delaware Co. are Frederick F. Besser, born 1851, died Aug. 19, 1920, his wife Rebecca A., born 1848 and died 1920 and Floyd E. Besser, born in 1893, died in 1965 and his wife Hazel L. born in 1901. I am looking for any information I can get on this Besser family. Thank you

Hi, My husband is a Besser and his father grew up in Keystone and all of their relatives are buried in Sinnett Cemetery. I would have to research, but I believe Alice may be from the Thomas and Daisy Besser line. My husband is from Thomas's brother's line. I'm right in the middle of making quilts for Christmas so it may be awhile before I can look at this. Feel free to email me if you have any other info. Thanks, Cheryl Besser Claremore, OK

See this link to the Ackley board where I've posted info about her son Thomas: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=message&r=rw&p=surnames.ackley&m=365 Perhaps some of her descendants on the ACKLEY board might know more about her? I forgot to add that Henry and Sarah lived in North Eastern Indiana for at least 30 years and that is where they died. Two of their sons fought in the Civil War, one did not marry. I am also looking for one of their daughters. She married Thomas Eddingfield in 1868 in Wells County Indiana, divorced after 1882, then disappeared. On one of her son's marriage applications, it shows her as being dead, not sure if it was sour grapes or the truth. Elena --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I am sure that your Bessers and mine are not connected. Mine were from Germany and ended up in the north central states. Good luck! Hi Ron Good to hear from you. Thanks for the reply. Boy the old world is getting smaller everyday. And I am most certainly glad. I would be more than glad for you to have the info. on the Besser Family I have. You mentioned you live on John Hall's old home place. Would that be north of NewWaverly, Tx. Close to the Boswell Church and cemetery? I my self live out of Huntsville, north on Hwy 19 about 8miles out right past Harmon Creek. You are most fortunate to have known your Great Grandmother. My misfortune. I miss out on knowning my dad or his parents etc. But since I have discovered who they were. I have recovered much. The Grandmother I missed knowing is Jodie Anna (Jo) Besser Sweet, a daughter of James Irwin Besser and Sarah Francis Merchant. Both J.I. & Sarah are buried at Boswell Cemetery. Grandma Jo, was married to Robert Lee Sweet. They lived at Hwy 105 West of Conroe, Tx, on McCaleb Road. Their son, is my dad, Bobby Hamp Sweet. Bobbys' second family was 4 Children . Three living, Which I have not met. I have been in contact with the oldest daughter of this marriage. She has revealed as much on the family as she knew. She was rather young, about 9 when dad died in an automobile accident in 1965.Grandma Jo used to visit your Grandmother Eliza a lot. Even after her death Grandma Jo would still frequent her grave through the years. Grandma Jo died 1964. She and grandpa Robert (Bob) and dad are buried at Copeland Chapel Cemetery * miles west on Conroe, off McCaleb Rd. I have about three folders of info. on The Besser Family, and you are welcomed to it all. If you live close maybe we could meet and exchange info. If possible I would love to get copies of the photos you have mentioned. If you wish you may also contact me by phone. 936-294-0388. If you live in the area I previously mentioned it is a local call. E-Mail Address is [email protected] Have you been to the little Besser Cemetery in New Waverly, where Gr.Gr.Gr.Grandma Julia A.Lousia Hampton Besser, John Slater Tinsley, and Elizabeth Besser Collard are buried? I have much too talk to you about. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
