G'day from Western Australia, Only minutes ago did I subscribe as I'm trying to track down what happened to my GG grandmother Lucy HOLMES (nee GILL) Ancestry has her in the 1891 census as Lucy HOLMES born abt 1847 in East Keal, Lincolnshire Resident (as a patient of the Broadmoor asylum) at Sandhurst in Berkshire. So far I can't find her death or an entry in the 1901 England census and so far surviving older family members have not been able to assist. She entered the asylum between the 1881 & '91 census dates after leaving the family farm in Pinchbeck (west) near Spalding, in Lincolnshire. It would be interesting to discover some records about that state of her health at time of her admission (or the reason for) and before she died if still as a Broadmoor resident. Do any of the list members have any ideas how I can knock over this brick wall - other than by masses of hard work by telephone, letter or personal visits as I'm not quite "down the road"?
