    3. St Georges, Hanover Square was a popular church with Guardsmen who were stationed in Windsor, but who moved to barracks in London when on ceremonial duty. My great uncle, Tom Nicholson Furniss, was born in Windsor but my great grandfather, Thomas Burton Furniss, settled in Lambeth after he became a Chelsea pensioner. I have yet to find out if there was any special accommodation for the wives of Guardsmen in Windsor.
