    3. 1. when and why and how did Alfred Major become a Sir if you look on the Cookham Dean blog site (google it) there is a list of residents for 1895 among other things. At this point he is not a knight. Contact the College of Arms to find out when he was knighted (again use a search engine) 2. Is there any information about the family`s life in Cookham: you have do your own research at the archives 3. Is there any thing about his working life, (on the census it has him working in the war office): you have to do your own search at Kew or try National Archives online (maybe best starting point) 4. Is the Alfred Major Recreation Ground named after him and was this land originally owned by him: you could have found this out by going to the Cookham Dean site: yes and no 5. What is or was The House of Her Britannic Majesty`s Legation in Brussels: a legation is an Embassy - he was clearly some sort of military attache I do not know about access to berkshire archives but the others I have mentioned will all either search for a fee or refer to you genealogist to do it for you. 3. Hi Darryl The recreation ground was built on land left to the local council (Cookham Dean) in 1940. In the churchyard of St John Baptist at Cookham Dean Sir Alfred Major (1907) and his wife Bertha (1938) are buried.
