It was a Workhouse before it became Crimp Hill House then I believe it became The Old Windsor Unit of the King Edward VII Hospital. In 1940 they added extra wards west of the site under the Emergency Medical Scheme now demolished. Hospital closed in 1991 and converted to residential accommodation. Could your relative have been evacuated from London and the child born there, I believe there were evacuees sent to Windsor My mother was evacuated from London to Reading and I was born there in 1943 Irene ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Bentley" <mbentley99@hotmail.com> To: <BERKSHIRE@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 06, 2010 7:36 AM Subject: [Norton AntiSpam][BRK] Crimp Hill House WW2 > Hi, > > I am trying to determine what Crimp Hill House in Windsor was used for > during WW2, particularly in 1941. > I have a birth certificate showing it as the place of birth. > > Hope someone can help > Regards > Mark >
