    3. Hi new to the list and wondered if you could help me. After a few years l have found my Grt Grandfather WILLIAM HENRY ELLIOTT's death, and have just received the death cert for him. It states he died 16.3.1933 in Church Hill House Easthampstead . And was of Kiln Ride Wokingham. Sadly He died of senile decay, I have googled this and have come across a old school address ...Church Hill House. Wilson way Wokingham l presume this was some kind of home. Asylum perhaps. has anyone any info on this beautiful Big house. I have no more info from 1911 cen where they lived cold harbour, Wendover Bucks when some time after that l first found his widow CLARA nee MATHEWS remarrying a William Norton Bell in Wokingham 1940 and living in a place called Chandos, Kiln Ride, Wokingham. I thought this was her new husband's house but now it turns out to be My Grandfathers William ELLIOTT's. So what l am looking for are directories for kiln ride Wokingham from 1911 to try and find when he came to live there. He was a plate layer all his life so l presume because of the railway being close by to kiln Ride this is why he left Bucks. Some facts about my ELLIOTT family William Henry Elliott married Clara MATTHEWS 1892 Amersham Bucks where the majority of the Elliott resided. They had nine children. Elsie 1894 John Henry About 1895 John Henry1893 Lily Elina 1903 Harry Arthur 1907 Ernest Edgar 1899 My grandfather Alice Daisy 1900 Clara Kate1895 William James 1897. If any one has any ELLIOTT s in there family tree l would be very pleased to here from them. Kind regards Margaret

    3. Hi Margaret Church Hill House Hospital is in Easthampstead Bracknell. In the 1970's when I went to school near there it housed patients with learning difficulties caused by a variety of physical and/or mental conditions. I don't know what it was used for in the 1930's but hopefully you may find something about its history on the internet Kiln Ride is in Wokingham (abt a quarter of a mile from where I live!) and a couple of miles from Wokingham Station Wokingham and Bracknell are abt 5 miles apart in the county of Berkshire. You could try the old directories website to see if your Grt Grandfather was listed http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/index.asp If you can get to Wokingham it might be worth checking with the library to see if they still have any electoral registers that go back that far. Wokingham Library has quite a good local studies section perhaps it might hold other items of use to you that the librarians could tell you about.
