Merry xmas Margaret -----Original Message----- From: berkshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:berkshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Nick Furniss Sent: 17 December 2010 09:55 To: berkshire@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BRK] Church Hill House Margaret, Try the Berkshire Family History Society. I transcribed a lot of census information for them several years ago. Church Hill House was a workhouse - a little superior to many of these institutions. Nowadays we would call it an old people's home. It still exists in Easthampstead which is a part of the Bracknell Forest Unitary Authority. There is a railway line running from Reading through Wokingham. One branch comes towards Bracknell and the other branch, down towards Weybridge. The record Office for Berkshire is in Reading. Road access to Bracknell from Birmingham is easy via the M40, A404 and then locally from Maidenhead. There are many places of interest nearby including Windsor Castle. Nick Furniss.
