I obviously upset someone with my innocent question. Will look else were for opinions. Ron There are no stupid questions but sometimes you get stupid answers IMHO I love Ancestry.co.uk I have been a member forever and have made contact through many other on the message boards, looked at family trees and of course trolled the indexes. I probably look at it every day. I do use other sites but only for the free component or short term fees, I use Find My Past to look at passenger lists (to Canada), 1911 census and burial index. You can look at some of the Find My Past registers for free but have to pay for the details. Pretty much all of my research is UK. Of course I look for anything new that is online. I have recently been helping to key and arbitrate the London Schools index and can see the vast amount of new records that will come online. Articles I have read in magazines always rates Ancestry very highly. If you research worldwide them you may need the Ancestry.com membership that covers a lot more but it is expensive. I wait until they give free access occasionally and then spend as much time as I can downloading data. Good Luck with your decision Margaret (Bowyer) Guest
